I Am For You Can Enjoy
Part of an ongoing multimedia collaboration between cultural activist Khalil West and photographer Ajamu, I Am For You Can Enjoy is a collection of candid video interviews with and portraits of men who stand at the margins of race, sexuality, commerce and labour.
Challenging definitions of “Blackness” and “sex work(er)” based in failure and victimhood, this landmark project intimately explores the diverse lived experiences, work and perspectives of queer Black men involved in the sex trade in their own words, revealing with humour and honesty the many points at which desire, agency, power, and commerce collide with self-identity, performativity, commodity and (post-)colonial constructions of Black masculinity.
We are entering our last round of content production for 2016 and need a few extra pennies to deliver the work. This includes transcription, video editing, subtitling, transport fees for two participants who will need to travel to Manchester from London, and studio hire.
Anything you can give is HUGELY appreciated, and your name will be included in the credits as a sponsor/supporter (alongside the Arts Council, Contact, Homotopia, and FACT) in associated printed catalogues and the forthcoming book, as well as in the film which will be screened as part of G Fest in November!
Thanks so much for your support!
