Larry Vasbinder Melanoma Treatment

My father Larry Vasbinder was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma July 2015. Fortunately he has been blessed with a relatively new immunotherapy treatment option called Keytruda. The downside of this amazing treatment is the expense. Unfortunately medicare only covers 80% of the cost of each treatment which is over $20,000.00 every three weeks. This treatment will be ongoing indefinately. The treatments are working and he will now be heading into radiation to zap his larger mass near his lung that has shrunk. The smaller mets to his lungs are now gone and the radiation is fortunately his next step. Again with medicare there is still a copay for each treatment as well as each and every test he must go through. $125.00 each time. It's so incredibly sad that our medical system cannot take the amount covered by insurance. Its an additional stressor on a cancer patient and their loved ones with the massive amount of debt they are left with. Any little bit will help in a big way. Thank you for considering our cause. Anyone that has had the opportunity to meet my dad knows he is truly one of the funniest and friendliest guys around. I'm proud to call him my dad. We are so blessed he has been able to tolerate these treatments and has been doing exceptionally well. God is good!
