Scotty's Bone Anchored Hearing Aid

Donation protected
As many of you know, my boyfriend Scotty Flaharty was in a critical bicycle accident last year. His broken bones and most of his other injuries healed but he was left with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and single-sided deafness (SSD) in his left ear. Life changed dramatically for Scotty because of his TBI and SSD. Scotty now struggles with every day activities because of his loss of hearing, but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming healthy and living an active lifestyle. He researched the best ways to heal his body and brain and began implementing healthier lifestyle practices such as making horrible nutritious kale smoothies that he drinks daily. He began exercising for hours a day and has poured his energy into cycling.

Scotty has trouble hearing people, especially in loud environments. Not only has Scotty's SSD caused him problems at work but it's affecting his social life. He doesn't enjoy spending time with friends like he used to and his love for music and concerts has gone away. When Scotty is in too loud of an environment, he cannot hear any words because he cannot filter out any background noise. It is often too overwhelming for him to stay in the room with multiple people because he cannot hold a conversation with them. Please be patient when talking to Scotty because chances are he's going to ask you to repeat yourself several times. His new catch phrase is “Sorry, What did you say?”

Scotty could have life-changing surgery to address his SSD and improve his quality of life. The surgery and hearing device, however, will cost more than $7,000 and he has to come up with that amount before they will operate. (This is in addition to the countless medical bills he accumulated immediately after the accident.) Scotty has worked so hard to overcome this life-changing event and getting a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) will help him conquer any future obstacles. We are hoping to raise the money by September, 2016 so Scotty can have surgery before the New Year. Please help Scotty raise money for a surgery that will improve his quality of life immensely. Any support is greatly appreciated.

There are not enough words to express how thankful both Scotty and I are for all the support and help!
