Lincoln HS Theatre MIFA Fundraiser

I am vice-president of the Lincoln High School Theatre Boosters in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  The boosters are attempting to raise money to help offset the cost of participating in the MIFA Theater Festival and the Mid-Michigan Theatre Arts Festival.  We spent over $8000 to participate in these two events in 2016, not counting equipment purchases, makeup, and blood.  (Yes, in 2016, we needed a lot of fake blood for our staging of Hamlet.)  Although we keep the cast, crew, and budget small compared to other programs we compete against, it still stretches our resources.  We do not receive any financial support from the district to cover registration fees, transportation, hotel, supplies, etc.  So we thought we would try to ease our financial situation with a GoFundMe campaign.

Money raised will go to the Lincoln High School Theatre Boosters, which provides most of the funding for the Theatre Department.  The money will be used toward next year's MIFA expenses first and foremost.   If we are lucky enough to beat our goal, the extra will be used to offset expenses for other Lincoln productions.

In between the fall musical (Shrek The Musical, Nov 2016) and the spring dramatic play (Tale of Two Cities, May 2017), Lincoln Theatre stages a 1-act competition play.  Lincoln performs the play at the MIFA Theater Festival, which is a competition with District, Regional, and State levels.  Lincoln competed at the state level for the first time in 2016! In addition, Lincoln travels to Garber High School to participated in the adjudicated but non- competitive Mid-Michigan Theatre Arts Festival.  This is a 2-day festival which attracts schools from around the state of Michigan.
