This is not easy, everyone, so bear with me... My name is Candace and I have an amazing baby sister who needs your help.
As many of you know, Kate has been battling with opiate addiction for several years. She entered recovery nearly two years ago and was on the right track. Over the course of the last 8 months, she has been relapsing over and over again. It has been heartbreaking to watch this vital, young women fall prey to the demons that are filling our streets.
Heroin is killing people every single day and we, as her family, don't want this to be HER outcome...
Addiction is a disease. It touches all of us. We can't turn our heads and pretend that it doesn't.
In the last few weeks, Kate has come to us, her family and her friends, and asked for help to get back into recovery. She doesn't want to live this way anymore and is struggling with how to find her strength..
She agreed to a detox program, which she completed today (5/10)... The next phase is an inpatient 28 day intense treatment program. Kate is there now and we can all sleep better knowing she is on the right path. Still need lots of prayers, though.. this is a long road.
The big surprise we encountered today was that Kate's medical insurance has a deductible that she can't afford.
They have allowed Kate to stay at the facility as we work toward a solution for payment... If we can't find this solution, she will be exited from this program.
This can't happen.
I am asking...no, I'm kind of begging... if there's any amount you can contribute, large or small, to help keep Kate on this path, please consider donating.
The only way Kate is going to jump this hurdle and land on her feet is if she follows through with her recovery.
That's my baby sister. I can't imagine my life without her and I don't want her to be yet another statistic...please help if you can.
