Service dog for Lynn Stevens

My name is Aaron Stevens.
I would like to raise money for a service dog for my wife, Lynn Stevens.
Lynn has a form of Muscular Dystrophy called Fascioscapulohumeral or FSH. This disease has gradually progressed over the last 20 years. Lynn now uses a motorized wheelchair and a special van to get around. Despite her physical limitations, Lynn still works full time. She also volunteers in the community for several service organizations, at Westwood Elementay School in Shreveport and as a mentor.
We have decided to work with Hidden Haven Service Dog Training in Shreveport, LA. They have a wonderful dog that will be specifically trained to help Lynn. This will allow her to remain independant as well as continue working and volunteering. Service dogs that are trained for tasks are very expensive. It will take about a year to fully train the dog. The dog will be trained to alert to a fall, open and close doors, retrieve objects, stability when walking and assistance getting out of a chair or bed. During the training we are responsible for the costs of the trainer, boarding, feeding, and vet services. The total costs are estimated to be at least $30,000.
For those of you that know Lynn, you will understand how important staying independant is to her. The money raised from this campaign will help offset the costs of the service dog from Hidden Haven Service Dog Training.
