New Ice Rink in Pullman, Washington

Polar Ice Arena, owned by Laura Wold, Chris Storhok, and Richard Berns is striving to complete the last bit of funding to build a Ice Arena that will be located near Pullman, Washington.  We anticipate the ice arena will serve as the possible home of local university Men's and Women's ice hockey teams , the Polar Bears Girls Hockey Association, other local youth hockey associations, an excellent adult hockey league, figure skating, curling, and public skating.  The arena is designed to  hold several different types of events including concerts, trade shows, and so forth. 

Currently, the closest full service ice arena is located 90 miles away in Spokane,  the immediate region is served by a seasonal 3/4 sized ice sheet facility.  The arena will feature seating for over a thousand fans, locker rooms, concession booth, skate rental, party rooms, meeting center and a modern NHL sized ice sheet.   The second sheet of ice will also be NHL sized with seating for 200. The facility is designed for a 50 year life span and will be constructed using modern ice making technology and green building standards to minimize the environmental impact of the facility.  Solar energy will be used to produce electricity as well as hot water for facility use.   Water is a precious resource in the region hence we will use water recycling technology along with reduced flow fixtures to ensure the facility will not create a burden on the local aquifer.  
Funds raised through this effort will be carefully managed and will be used to complete the funding package to move the project into construction and completion of this greatly needed facility.  We would like to begin construction this fall so we can serve our community immediately.  
This facility has been a dream of ours for over a decade and to finally have a local ice arena that can serve the needs of the community as well as the universities would fulfill our long term vision for ice sports in the region.  Imagine enjoying university rivals play a hockey game with over a thousand fans in our community, or watching our local youth achieve their hockey or figure skating goals.  Feel the excitement of hitting the ice for a game of hockey, walking out of the tunnel and heading onto a NHL sized sheet of ice in a climate controlled facility.  This is our vision and we would love for you to join us in completing our ice arena.
