Mike Winffel's Kids Education Fund
I knew Mike from work at Carderock. Back in February I slipped on ice and got a concussion, it was dark and no one was around except Mike and Carl. Mike was the first to run to my side to help me, he picked up all my things on the sidewalk and walked me to my office. Through my weeks of recovery he would come to my office to see if I was ok. He was truly a kind selfless person. Who'd do anything for anyone. He will be missed by many... Especially his constant smile and contagious happiness.
I had the privilege to joke with Mike one more time before his life was tragically taken from us. If anyone who knew him knows that he was a jokester when it came to football and anything for that matter. Such a kind and nice person that the world will truly miss out on his presents. I deepest thought and prayers go out to his family and friends. #jesusgainedanotherhero
I only got to meet him a few times at a few family gatherings and when I heard these news I had to pull my car over and just sit. This hurt like he was my own family. I remember him being a loud and funny guy. He had a lot of presence and was real friendly. I feel for his family. I really hope that they turn out okay and I know he will forever be remembered as a heroic person. He put himself in danger instead of fleeing such a horrifying scene. He was just being a brave and good human being. We need more people like this man.
Wish I had chance coming to know this hero who is a true man with deep love to people around him. His warm heart left us with a love story to share even after a cold incident. He will forever live in our heart as a hero. For generations to come, he will be taught as a hero and his story will be spread. Rest in peace, my friend. You will be deeply missed by many who you know and you don't know. May your love be forever shared and spread all over the area, the state, the nation and the world.
