Imogen's story

Thank you for taking the time to read Imogen's story.
I'm Imogen's Aunty, and there are 2 reasons for me setting this page up.
Firstly, For anyone who knows Imogen's amazing parents (Katherine and Ben), they would know that they are very private and keep things close to their heart. Since Imogen entered this world that's exactly what they've done.
They would now like to let friends and family know what their beautiful little angel endured in her short time on this earth. And also thank everyone for their kind words and support.
Secondly, due to the whirlwind nature of Imogen's time here, her father Ben hasn't left her side to go back to work (FIFO worker), quite understandably, not wanting to miss a minute with their precious angel.
So I'm asking if anyone can help with anything at all, just to get them through without having to worry about the practicalities and be free to just say their final goodbyes to Imogen together. It would be appreciated more than words.
                                    Imogen's Story
Imogen Elizabeth was born on the 23rd of Feb 2016 via a scheduled c-section.
A beautiful daughter, and baby sister for big brothers Nicholas and Mathew.
When Imogen was delivered, both of her lungs collapsed. Without getting a chance to meet mum she was whisked straight to the NICU at PMH. Mum sent dad with her.
She was heavily sedated, intubated and put on a high frequency ventilator.
Doctors were unsure of a diagnosis, they thought PPHN.
Imogen was changed to a conventional ventilator 2 and a half weeks later.
A week after this she was extubated and put on cpap (Nasal prongs and groovy hat).
Imogen fought, and kept giving little glimpes of progress. But whatever she was fighting, kept fighting back.
At 2 and a half weeks old, mum and dad got their first cuddle.
Imogen remained on cpap while the doctors scratched their heads and tried so hard to find answers, samples sent to america for testing, genetic testing, CT's, you name it. And they came back with nothing. Only the symptoms she was presenting with, could they try and treat.
Due to her age and the developmental delays that the cpap would cause, and the fact that poor Imogen kept  desatting quite severely, she was scheduled in for a tracheostomy.
On the 14th of April Imogen had surgery for her tracheostomy.
Things were looking good, Imogen was moved to PICU, then her pulmonary hypertension came back with a vengeance.
On Wednesday the 4th of May Katherine and Ben had a meeting with Imogen's doctors, and the news wasn't good.
They were told due to the stress on poor little Imogen's heart, she would most likely pass from cardiac arrest.
No time frame could be given, so they just had to try and digest what they'd been told.
On the 6th of May 2016 at 11.25am Imogen Elizabeth passed from heart failure, taking her last breath in her doting fathers arms.
No more pain, no more fighting, fly high our beautiful Angel.
I've just touched the surface on the struggles little Immy and her beautiful family have been through.
I can't begin to tell my sister how proud and awe struck I am at hers and Bens strength through this incredibly difficult time.
Again, thank you to anyone who reads this, and anyone who has $1 to spare will be helping this amazing family through their grieving process with just one less stress.
Thank you xx
