Brinton's Eagle Scout Project
Donation protected
Intro
Hello, My name is Brinton Gibbons. I am a student at North Hunterdon High School and a Boy Scout in Troop 200 (Annandale, NJ) . This GoFundMe campaign is to raise money for my Eagle Scout Project, which is to build a memorial to the students of North Hunterdon who have gone on to serve in the Armed Forces of the United States. This memorial will be located outside the new gym at North Hunterdon High School, and it will consist of a gravel path leading up to and partially around a granite monument, with patriotically colored flowers throughout surrounding mulch beds. The granite monument will bear an inscription honoring the students of North who have served.

Inspiration
When I began my four years at North Hunterdon I noticed a small, inside memorial that had been created to honor the students of our school who had lost their lives in the Vietnam war. Two men whose names are on display were familiar to me. These two men were Frederick Holjes and Robert Sheppard, the First and Sixth Eagle Scouts to pass through Troop 200. They are also memorialized on our neckerchief which we wear to all scout functions. I was happy to see that we were not the only ones still honoring their memory. At age 12, shortly after joining scouts I was volunteering at a rededication of a memorial constructed for their memory in Lebanon, NJ ( an amazing project completed by then Eagle Scout candidate James Gallagher) and I felt proud of those men who gave up their lives for us to live free. When I began my own journey toward Eagle Scout earlier this year I knew that I wanted to do a project similar to this. After seeing the memorial for North Hunterdon's fallen Vietnam veterans I wondered if there was a memorial for the Veterans of the more recent wars in our history at North. After learning that there was not one I came to the conclusion that for my Eagle Scout Project I wanted to create a memorial for the men and women of North Hunterdon who have served in all of the armed forces of the United States, past, present, and future.
My Background
I addition to being a Boy Scout I am a Football Player and a Wrestler for North Hunterdon High School. I am the son of a veteran of the Iraq war and I have a great respect for our troops. Because of the changes that being in a military family has brought to my life I have a greater appreciation for the military and what they do for us. It is my hope that with this project more people will stop for a second, thank a veteran for all that they have done for them to be able to have the rights that we have in this great country. It is also my hope that they will stop to remember those who have given their lives in defense of those freedoms and support those currently serving and protecting them.
What The Funds Will Be Used For
All funds will go toward material or support costs of this project, these include (but are not limited to): Acquiring the Monument, Floral Costs, and support costs for the volunteers on the workdays that I am planning to have this summer.
Conclusion
I thank you for taking a look at my project. All donations help me toward my goal and no donation is too small. If you cannot help monetarily please spread the word around so I can meet my goal and make my project a reality.
