120 Donations @ $27 a piece=Philly!

My husband is Lucas Haffner. He's a proud family man that’s spent twenty plus years in construction and renewables and is working currently on a second career in water science. Luke graduated from ICCC this May and is starting at ISU in August studying Environmental Science. Our family enjoys a sustainable/environmentally conscience existence in NWIA by growing much of our own food and powering partially with solar. We are also an avid outdoors family that explores our National Parks, snowboards and kayaks as time allows. These previous characteristics lead Luke to the Ag, Energy and Environment Platform Committee at the district level. At the District Convention, Luke was chosen for the State Platform Committee which he is looking forward to long meetings shaping the planks of our Iowa state platform.
During Districts Lucas was also chosen to represent the Fourth District of Iowa as a National Delegate in which he gratefully accepted. Practicing democracy is a passion of Luke's as you may know so this opportunity means the world to him as he will learn the election process to the next level.
The primary down side is lodging costs. Being a delegate means being close to the convention center for meetings with the Iowa Delegation, Credential handout (which if missed due to hectic travel would result in barred entry and missed votes for that day) along with the amount of people being in Philly during the Convention makes staying at the reserved hotel somewhat crucial. Because of supply and demand rooms are near $650 per night (if not more).
Needing to be there from Sunday night through Thursday night (5 nights) roughly totals $3250. If we, by the Convention on July 24th, recieve 120 donations at an average of $27 per donation (please feel free to contribute as you wish), we hope to inspire your generosity to help our dad collect the $3250 needed for hotel fees. We are asking only for hotel fees as our family intends on investing near that amount for the rest of the expenses for the trip.
Please help us send our dad/husband to Phillidelphia this summer to represent our desire for a strong democracy and to carry Iowa's voice to the National stage!!
