We believe she will walk again!

Many people know how special Sandy is. She is always there for others and an active member in her church . She has 2 children and 3 grandchildren who she puts her whole life into. We want to share her story .
On September 10, she went to run some errands . Before she went she stopped at her daughters business and let her know she was getting her car serviced at the dealership later that day if she needed anything . She took her car to the dealership in Turnersville. While the car was being serviced , she walked to the stores to do a little shopping . When she was coming back she crossed Tuckahoe road when a car came out of nowhere and struck her. She never saw the car and the driver said she never saw her . She was only a couple feet from the sidewalk . When she was struck she flew into the air landing on the hot street. She complained the street was very hot on her skin while she laid there and people tried to help her. She never lost consciousness and remembers it all. She was flown to Cooper Trauma in Camden via helicopter. She suffered tremendous injuries which affected 2 areas of her spinal cord, broken shoulder , broken hips , broken lower vertebrae and fractured sternum. When she first was at admitted scan showed some blood surrounding her brain. The next day she had another scan and it looked like it was absorbed and no longer bleeding which was a huge relief. She is intense pain but we are extremely hopeful . She can feel her feet and legs to the touch but has been unable to move them as of yet. We know that will change in time . On September 11 she had a serious surgery to fuse the disks in her spinal cord back together to allow the best possible environment for rehabilitation. It was a long surgery very but went well. She is on round the clock pain medicine to make her as comfortable as possible .
Tomorrow , September 14, is her birthday. She will be having a surgery that day to repair her broken shoulder which has been causing her intense pain . We are hopeful that it will go well and smoothly .
Sandra has been through so much in her past medically . She survived colon cancer in 2008 which left her with an illiostomy bag for several months . She was able to have this reversed surgically and regain all bowel functions and cancer free In 2015 she found out she has several large kidney stones leaving both of her kidneys partially functioning . She had 4 surgeries back to back to remove them . Both surgeries were extremely hard on her and the family but anyone who knows her knows what a special person she is . She endured so much pain and even though her spirit was up and down , she focused and go through it with her amazing large family and friends . Everyone loves Sandy, her co workers , family , friends have been absolutely amazing in support prayers and helping with the family .
She has a very very long road ahead of her . Our focus as a unit is for her to be able to walk again. Doctors say it will only be known in time how much if any mobility she will have .
One day to the next everything can change . She is the most amazing grandmother to her 3 grandkids and everyone knows they are her life along with her son and daughter that haven't left her side . Tremendous support from loved ones and even strangers sending positive energy and prayers are overwhelmingly appreciated .
There will be a need for rigorous rehabilitation in patient and home care while she focuses on walking again. Modifications to her home will be needed to be made as well as her daughters home to allow her to be able to feel independent . She will be out of work for an unknown amount of time . Her son has flown home to care for her and her daughter has taken an undetermined amount of time off from her business to care for her as well. The road ahead is unknown but our hearts and minds are strong and focused . We play music for her show her pictures of her grandchildren and her dog and spruced her room with positive affirmations . She will need prayers for this road as she battles her way through . She is tough but this is very hard for her . We appreciate everything everyone has done and continues to do for us in this time . Please pray for her, pray her healing of her spinal cord so she can dance again. Music is her passion and dancing is what she loves to do . She loves cooking holiday meals and taking her grandkids to storybook land and having sleepovers . I can't understand why God has allowed this to happen to someone with such a beautiful heart and who has touched as many people as she has . But I know she is not alone and God has already healed her , we just need time , patience and prayer , thank you all.
