2019 FISU Games (World Universiade) in Italy

My name is Alexandre Perreault and I am an international competitive swimmer who practices over 20 hours per week, while being a full-time university student in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa. Up to this date, my hard work has paid off as I have been selected by Swimming Canada to participate in the 2019 FISU Summer Universiade in Naples, Italy in July 2019.
In the past year, I have represented Team Canada at the FINA World Short Course Championships in Hangzhou, won 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal at the 2018 Senior Nationals, and 1 bronze medal at the most recent 2019 Canadian trials for the World FINA championships. The FISU Games are a great opportunity for me to continue my development and compete on the international stage against other high performance swimmers in preparation for next year's Canadian trials for the 2020 Olympic Games. These international events are critical in my preparedness level to achieve my swimming goal.
In spite that I have been selected by Swimming Canada to attend these games, all expenses for this trip, including travel and participation fees are not funded and must be paid out of pocket; totalling over 5500$ of expenses. As a full-time university student and being in a house with two athletes, this is a big commitment. For those reasons, I wish Go Fund Me can help me to attend this important meet!
