Jess’ South Africa Volunteering Trip
Donation protected
I’m Jess. I recently graduated from the University of Westminster with a First Class Honours in Television Production, and I am going on to study a Masters Degree at the National Film and Television School in Directing and Producing Science and Natural History, starting in January 2019. This short gap between my studies has provided me with the perfect opportunity to put my skills to good use by filming wildlife in South Africa.
At the end of August, I will travel to South Africa to start my two month placement as a media volunteer for the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA for short!). My main role will be filming and editing videos about the wildlife at the sanctuaries, then uploading these to SAASA’s website, YouTube and social media pages. I’ll also be doing some photography and photo editing, writing, and updating the ever-growing information files about the different species at the sanctuaries.
As well as creating media for SAASA, I’ll also be helping out with other volunteer duties, such as feeding the animals, cleaning enclosures, forest maintenance and taking visitors on informative sanctuary tours. Working days will be 5 days a week, 8am until 5pm.
Read more about SAASA and the sanctuaries they operate on their website >> https://www.saasa.org.za/.

I’d like to raise some money to go towards my flights and living expenses - I’m only doing unpaid volunteer work while I’m there, so any support towards the cost would be greatly appreciated!
Throughout the trip, I’ll be blogging my experience, sharing my photos and videos, and adding to a fact file about all the wildlife at the animal sanctuaries. My website will be up and running before I go to South Africa, so I’ll add the link here in due course.
Thank you so much for your support! X
