Help Save Agape Life Center Academy in Kenya

Please help! Located 90 miles from the capitol of Nairobi, Kenya, in the small rural village of Eldoret stands the Agape Life Centre Academy and orphanage. Founded by local Kenyan Pastor Milton Sarara and his wife Rachel, the small facility official opened in 2005 and, with the help of 14 teachers and 3 assistants, has since then graduated over 2,000 students in their K-8 Christian school. But in order to stay open, the school needs to raise thousands of dollars as soon as possible!

The extreme drought in parts of Kenya has led to a 100%-200% increase in food prices, which has been a devastating blow for the rural and extremely impoverished village of Eldoret and surrounding areas where most villagers survive off of just 2-3 dollars a day. For many families, the school lunch provided by volunteers is the only nutritious meal they receive all day. To make matters worse, one of the largest employers in the area recently closed down, leaving many locals unemployed and in an even greater need for help.

With food costs skyrocketing and many families unemployed, Agape Life Center Academy can simply not keep the doors open any longer to provide the food, education, shelter, and access to a better life that these children desperately need. Many families are forced to leave the school because they can no longer afford the $30 per month tuition. Just $30 a month can ensure a child can attend school, have books and school supplies provided, and receive a warm meal.

This is why we are sending out this call for any and all people to send however much help to this village as they can. Whether it be one dollar, or a thousand, every cent helps keep this school open and a dream for a better world alive for all the these children and their families. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to provide the school with enough financial backing to set them up for years so that they can continue to provide education, clothes, books, food, and shelter to some of the most needy and impoverished families on the planet. Whether you are a believer or not, we pray that God blesses you for your generosity and kindness, and that together we can keep the dream of a better tomorrow alive for all people around the world. You are not only showing great kindness and generosity by supporting this cause, you are changing the world for the better and leaving your mark on the world forever. We are all here for a purpose, it is not by accident that you found this page.

Further Background: In 2003, Pastor Milton and his wife Rachel visited Life Christian elementary school in Tacoma, WA to teach the students about life in Kenya, their culture and history and the challenges the people in Kenya face on a daily basis. Inspired by their story and sacrifice, the students wanted to help the children in his village so that they could receive a wonderful education. In 2003 they started a business that, over the course of the next 2 years, raised the funds necessary to build the school. Several years later, they started a second business to raise funds needed to put textbook and bibles in the school. They partnered with Books for Africa who provided $250,000 worth of textbooks and bibles, enough books to share with several other schools in the area.

The students at Agape Life Center Academy receive a first-class education which has been nationally recognized across Kenya for its excellence and success. The children also take field trips, participate in a Science and Technology day, and learn about and take care of the vegetable gardens and live stock which includes rabbits, ducks and goats.

Pastor Milton and his wife Rachel have visited Life Christian school several times since and provide monthly updates on the progress of the school and students.
