Something For Cait

Donation protected

This is all about doing something small in honour of my Mum that helps people who have to go through what she went through. It's nothing massive, but it's what I could do and what we can do as a little community in Wollongong to do some good. My mother (Caitlin - hence the "Cait") passed away from breast cancer early last year. It was a horrible and difficult journey that was made better by the wonderful care she was provided in our local hospitals. I wanted to do something to honour her memory and raise some money in the process. I work as a bartender, so I figured something in that realm made alot of sense. Phil from 5 Barrel Brewing graciously and wonderfully came on board and we collaborated to brew a beer that would be designed to raise some money as well as being a tangible way I could commemorate Mum. It's a traditional German-styke pilsner as Mum had an affinity with Germany, being a German teacher and traveling there many times - not to mention she loved a Resch's Pilsner when having a drink. All proceeds from the beer will go The Illawarra Cancer Carers who provide excellent practical care and support to those suffering from this horrible disease, as well as financially supporting cancer research, so hopefully one day we can see an end to this awful thing. If you can contribute even a little bit more here, please do. Please support the venues that stock this beer, and 5 Barrel Brewing who made it. We're a strong community in Wollongong, let's drink some beer, and do some good. Much love, Dom.
