LA Kitchen: Run 1K miles for $1K

Donation protected
It's simple: I'm pledging to run 1,000 miles for $1,000 to be donated to  L.A. Kitchen ‌. I'm no mathematician, but this will (most likely) take me 365 days. By the time 365 days is up and with an average distance of 2.73 miles per day, I will have reached 1,000 miles. I'll begin my counter on August 1, 2016. If anything, I plan on it taking me less than 365 days. Additionally, I plan to document through photos, videos, and whatever other medium of media possible to ultimately string together a storyboard of my journey once completed.

Keep tabs of my progress here! I update this Google Sheets file each day that I complete a run. It's a great way for me to see where I'm at along my journey.

This is a challenge that I look forward to not only for myself, but to help such an invaluable organization like the L.A. Kitchen. Saying I believe in what they do is a fraction of an understatement. They are some of the coolest people I've ever met. The founder, Robert Egger, is such a welcoming and real guy. He says things how they are and doesn't let anything get in the way of what he wants. He's always made me feel so at home when talking with him-he's always so down for me to come by and say hello to the L.A. Kitchen.

Here's a little bit more about what they believe:

L.A. Kitchen embodies what it means to be sustainable. They are reclaiming healthy, local food that would have otherwise gone to waste, training men and women who are currently unemployed, and feeding the community of L.A. that doesn't have the necessary resources to nourish themselves with healthier options. They believe that neither food nor people should ever go to waste. They recognize the potential of the community's existing resources and are dedicated to revealing their power to nourish and uplift. Furthermore, they see hunger as not solely being about food. They want to work to address the root causes of poverty by employing a variety of dynamic approaches to nourish the community.

I appreciate you taking some time to read this so we can collectively help our community. Any donation, share, or positive thought towards this pledge is worth more than I can ever tell you. I'm excited to give back and intimidated by the process; all-in-all, I can't wait to make this happen. Let's do this!
