Support Residents Seeking Shelter

Donation protected
It's a sad holiday season for 19 residents of the 1516-1518 Broadway apartment building. As these residents are being forced, by the city of Superior, to vacate their homes entirely. A letter of notification, arrived December 5th, stating that the building is being vacated due to building code deficiencies.

Shortly after Christmas, the residents being forced to move, are facing many difficulties. This time of year is horribly inconvienent due to the severely cold weather, and housing availability for low income residents with pets, in the area.  Some of the residents have young children, one in particular, that has a baby. Other residents are disabled, and need assistance in order to find a new home.

The city of Superior is forcing residents to move, from their homes, right after Christmas! At this time of year, money is tight, due to the holidays. As we all know, it is financially impossible to have Christmas AND an unsuspected forced move. The housing the residents currently have, may not be the best, but it is what they can afford. Regardless, this building is still their home... where they are able to have their pets with them, which for many, is family.

They'll have to spend the next few days, even Christmas, packing because they are being forced to move. Yet, where? Where are they expected to go? All of the residents are to be vacated entirely from their homes by January 2nd, a day when NO governement agencies are open to provide assistance. Furthermore, if residents have not completely vacated the premises by noon of that day, they will not be allowed to re-enter, and this could cause them to lose all of their possessions.

What is being asked of you, is to consider donating to this fund**, to help these people in their time of need. As a society, we can pull together, and show these residents, that WE CARE. Even though the city is forcing them to move out, we care about what is happening here. We care, that they are being forced to move. We care that they won't have homes. We care about their children, and pets that won't have homes. We care about them. Please share this post, donate to the fund, show others what caring is all about!

**Please note, the funds raised will be directly donated to a pre-designated charitable organization, and set aside specifically for these residents. Any unused funds will be set aside for other similar emergency situations.

I, Marty Curtiss, the chairman of the Superior Landlord Association Program (SLAP), put this fundraiser together. Even though this is not my building, I understand the tradgedy of this situation. My intention for this fundraiser is to help support the residents of this building. I feel there is something terribly wrong with this situation, and am just trying to offer each and every one of you with the opportunity to help.

LET'S GIVE THESE RESIDENTS A CHRISTMAS!
