Long winterhike with disabilities
1500km to Kiruna/ 1000miles to Kiruna
I am preparing for one of my life's biggest challange when I am about to walk alone, by foot with a sled from the Swedish coastal city Norrköping to Kiruna, under the Scandinavian coldest and darkest season.
"I like cold and darkness, which works very wekk with my handicaps, therefore I choose to walk in winter season. I also do this to raise awareness and knowledge about invisible disabilities in outdoors life."
Despite several health issues and handicaps, I decided to overcome my limitations, walk 1500km (1000miles) . I am an high functioning autistic (Aspergers syndrome) with ADD, a form of ADHD and I also deal with asthma, joint issues, migraines and general anxiety. On top of that I suffer fromm Endometriosis and insomnia.
Fundraising for charity vs privately.
Mainly with my journey, I am separately raising money in favor for Hjärnfonden, an organisation that collects money for research and information about the brain. From that funds I don't see a penny, which is technically as intended.
But life is full of surprises, not all good. Although I have prepared 3 years for this journey, much has happened, healthwise, that made my ship sink a little.
My whole food preparation went down the drain when I was forced to change diet, and I have been struggled since, which is the past 4months.
Lemons and lemonade
My diet, all things considered, will mostly considered by dry meat processed into a cake called pemmican. This mass has enough kcal/gram that makes the cheapest, lightest (weight) and most durable food I can bring. Not to mention it contain all daily nutrition needed per day.
Obtaining 80kg meat is a feat I obviously will not succeed with, forcing me to dry as much everything else I can for the journey. Sadly what I can dry (allergy wise) will not be nutricious enough per kg, nor contain enough calories. It ends up me having to buy food on the go instead, which is an extended cost in which was far more than calculated.
You support is valuable!
Thank you for have red so far, now you might wonder why you should donate? Well, I am not just doing for myself, there is a public interest in my success. My success in this journey is also one huge win for a more inclusive and active outdoor society. An active society is a happy society. Everyone wins!
