12 Years a Prisoner in Syria --
Now Free in Canada and Needs Your Help
After suffering imprisonment for his writings in support of democracy and foiling an attempt to kidnap his wife and two sons, the writer and painter Jamal Saeed managed to escape from Syria with his family.
The Kingston Writers' Refugee Committee was successful in sponsoring their admission to Canada. They are living in Kingston, building new lives.
We're committed to supporting the Saeeds through their first year in Canada. We need your help now in raising $7,500 (Cdn) to carry the Saeeds through the rest of 2017.
English-speakers, they are actively seeking employment while Jamal works on his book, Out of Syria. His wife Rufaida has a short-term job in a real estate office and is seeking full-time work. Sons Ghamr and Taim are excelling in school, with Taim working part-time at Macdonald's.
Please help us raise what's needed to complete Sponsorship Year 1 for the Saeeds. All our receipts will go 100% to the family (no admin costs, everything is done by volunteers!).
All contributors donating $25 or more will receive an official tax credit receipt.
Please give generously -- now!
Thank you,
Ray Argyle,
Chairman, Kingston Writers' Refugee Committee
