Veterans Service Dog for PTSD &TBI

Donation protected
My husband, (MSG Ret) Andrew Murphy served 21 years in the Army as an Army Ranger. During his service he conducted numerous deployments to Iraq adding up to 5 years in country. He is now retired and struggling daily from his combat related injuries. He currently is diagnosed with 100% PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), TBI (traumatic brain injury) and hearing loss by Veterans Affairs. My husband is in need of a trained service dog to help him with his daily activities.  My husband was released from a VA Mental Institution in Nov 2013 after having a severe problem with PTSD and Depression and was told a Service Dog would be the best thing for him in his recovery. He was first matched with a service dog while we were living in Windsor, CO through Soldiers Best Friend in Phoenix, AZ. We jumped at the opportunity, uprooted our kids, and moved almost 1000 miles and spent around $10,000 dollars. We were with the program for about 4 months training daily with his dog Maggie. In the end the organization decided that Maggie could not be a service dog for medical reasons. My husband was devastated, and our search for another service dog was underway. We received a call from the owner of Dogs 4 Warriors that my husband had been matched with a service dog and he "Duke" would be ready for us within 3-4 months. We were told he would do all the tasks for my husbands needs. We spent 2 weeks and over $3,000 dollars in travel to Ohio to only be deceived again. Duke was trained to the standard of a good Pet. We still have Duke, but he is far from a service dog. We now have been referred to a highly recommended trainer. Jimi at Your Dog Guru. We have met with him and liked what we saw. He also has strong military roots and knows what the standard of a trained Service Dog is. Duke will enter his program on 4 November and will be there for 3 to 4 months. I am asking for donations to help us with the price of the training. Our goal is only half of the price for Duke's training. Thank you for your support. Rangers Lead the Way! We will post pics and updates along the way.
