079LOVE4ALL Event Fundraiser

Hi, I'm Tracy Sada and i need your help in raising funds towards a fun free 2-day event in September celebrating diversity, immigration, identity and mental wellbeing in South London.
Why?
So a bit of background about me. I was born in Nigeria. I came to the Uk when i was 6 years old and have lived here for over 20 years. However I have faced huge immigration struggles that still affect me today, I’ve had to remain strong and positive because I refuse to be beaten. So the jist is that I was an illegal immigrant for the majority of my childhood. This has led to the immigration issues I still face today. Over the last three months, I have been raising £2389 to pay the home office along with studying for my life in the Uk test which I passed. These requirements are needed to become a permanent resident in the Uk. My application was sent in June and it will take 6 months to get a decision about my future in the UK. I am not the only one who goes through this but best believe this has created a sense of hopelessness, depression, and anxiety over the years. So I decided to make art and music from my pain. I started a multimedia project called #079LOVE4ALL where I express my views on Immigration, identity, culture and mental health through art, film, music, and text. It’s a creative and friendly resource that I needed growing up and still need. You can check it out here: 079-LOVE-4-ALL .
The Event
I am having an event on the 1st and 2nd September at a gallery space in Peckham Levels. It’s free workshops, panel discussions and more. I think it's important to have safe spaces where people can discuss about these issues that affect their lives.
The funds will be used for :
- materials like bean bags and lights in order to curate comfortable and creative space
- A good second-hand projector in order to screen short films
- Creating printed media that raise awareness i.e stickers, posters, and badges for attendants goody bags
- Promotional material including signage in order to raise awareness for the event.
- Transportation of equipment
What would this event mean to me?
This past few weeks have been pretty tough and this event is something I needed when I was full of so much anxiety and hopelessness. I wanna reach out to those going through the exact same thing and let them know that they are not alone.
