Please help us buy more time for Adam

Hi all, below is a message from Adam

WOW where do I start. My head is full of mixed emotions right now, but mainly exhilaration so here goes.. So Tuesday I was in London arranging the process of starting my self-funding as my tablets covered by my Insurance has now run out. Today I have received various phone calls and emails explaining that because of my story the company I work for have agreed to change the Insurance policy for employees, meaning there is now no limit on Biological cover. In English THEY ARE NOW GOING TO COVER MY TABLETS !!

I have been told on numerous occasions “NO YOUR NOT covered” and it is ending on the 22nd September, but through numerous letters about my situation, the GOFUND, all the media & in particular support from you guys, my family, my friends and friends of friends. My company have shown real compassion and made this happen.

Myself and Vicky just want to say to everyone, Thank you with all our hearts for donating and putting so much effort into helping raise funds. Camp out for Cancer was amazing and all the other events people have put on is so over-whelming.

I appreciate that so many of you have donated for the purpose of purchasing the drugs and we would truly be happy to return any money back to you. Please don’t feel embarrassed to ask just pop me or Vicky a message over and we will sort this out. I know a lot of you have given us money when times are tough for yourselves so please let us know as we will be happy to do this.

Any money left we would love to make some memories whist we can, but also keep as a safeguard for when times get tough when my cancer returns and in case my circumstances change with my employment which would result in me no longer being covered by the Insurance.

My cancer cannot be cured and will come back, but you all have given me a chance to have more time with my family and with all of you for which I am forever grateful for. I am so proud to be part of an amazing family and have such thoughtful and caring friends. Love you all xxx

My 38 year old husband Adam, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma last year, which is currently a treatable but sadly incurable form of cancer.

Current position:
We have been told by Adams consultant today (09-07-19) that if he doesn't have the maintenance drugs for the full two years, then he won't benefit from from the double remission time that he might have had. Sadly the drugs aren't available on NHS, his insurance company will only cover them for 8 months and at 5.5k per month it's not possible for us to self fund.

We are a normal family, have both worked hard all our lives, but we can't afford this drug he so desperately needs.

I do find it difficult and somewhat embarrassing to have to ask for help (which my friends tell me is silly), but have reached the point now, where i feel our only hope is to raise enough money to get the drugs to give him the chance to have as much time as possible with me and his 7 year old son.

Please, if you can donate anything this would mean so much - we need £66,000 to get these drugs for an additional 12 months and a total of £88,000 to get the full 16 months to give him the chance he deserves.  We thought we would start the campaign trying to get 12 months cover as both amounts seem like an impossible amount of money that we actually need to raise, but I have to try, I would never forgive myself if i didn't.

I appreciate this isn't going to be a cure and the cancer will come back, but he is too young not to have a chance that he should be given, I don't want to lose my husband and I don't want my little boy to lose his daddy, but if we can spend as many years as possible building memories, we would be so grateful of that . Thank you for reading x

Diagnosis:
Adam had been suffering with pain in his ribs and chest for 18 months prior to diagnosis. He went to his GP on numerous occasions complaining of pain and after 15 months they finally referred him to a specialist - but still, no-one had a clue what was wrong with him. Until one day, he stood up, his vertebrae collapsed and his spine fractured. It was only at this point they truly started investigating what was wrong with him and then we got the diagnosis neither of us ever expected.
