Last year, we shared our plans to move out of 1081 North High Street – a move that brings excitement and mixed emotions. Our roots and beginning are deeply embedded in that space. We recognize, too, that with this change, we have exciting opportunities to give birth to the next phase of Yoga on High.
Though we budgeted and planned for this move, the transition requires a more sizeable investment than we originally estimated. The fact is, we need your help to make YOHI’s future possible. We want to ensure that the new studio is a space where you want to practice—warm, welcoming, functional and healing. A true yoga home for our shared community.
As you know, YOHI at 1020 Dennison Avenue has been a wonderful annex over the past years. In order to make it function as our main studio it needs a few key updates:
2- 3 Additional bathrooms on the main floor
Sound-proofed treatment room
New flooring to support our movement practices
A proper door for the smaller space
A transition space into the large room
Update for the retail area
Update for the office
Lighting for the large room and new upstairs room named Chandra (moon)
Sound dampening in Chandra
Flooring for the upstairs room (complete)
Painting the upstairs room (complete)
Our plan is to create a community plaque where we will recognize the generosity of all who donate over $500 toward making the next phase of YOHI possible. And EVERYONE who donates $100 and above will receive a print of Lynda McClanahan’s beautiful head-standing woman that has graced our front lobby for years. We would be happy to sit down and talk to you about the various projects and their costs and answer any questions that you might have! We have already received $15,500 in donations! Thank you in advance for your consideration. We appreciate your support as we navigate all the changes that 2018 is sending our way.

P.S. The Last class at 1081 N High St will be on Sunday, July 29 from 10:00 to 11:30a and will be co-taught by both of us. We will then have a procession from 1081 to 1020 Dennison and have a ceremony over there to “install” the old energy into our new space. We welcome you to that event!
