<div>On behalf of Mike Lee's loved ones, we are raising funds to directly assist with his immediate needs, medical expenses, and post-care support. At just 31 years old, Mike experienced his second stroke on April 4th, 2024, within a two-year span since his last. He is currently receiving treatment in the ICU at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, where he is battling brain bleeding. The medical team is diligently investigating the cause and working towards his recovery and rehabilitation.

Support for Mike Lee's (second stroke) Medical Recovery

<p>My brother Jake Chamseddine was critically injured in a forklift accident on tour while in Philadelphia. We are so blessed to still have him with us, real angels saved his life, and we are beyond grateful to them, and for the outpouring of love and support Jake has received. It means the world to him and to our family. Jake is so strong and so brave, he has had five surgeries and in the coming weeks will have additional surgeries done. After that, we are hopeful to fly him back to Portland for months of home healing, assisted nurse care, and extensive inpatient rehab. He has a long road ahead of him, but doctors believe with his heart and sheer determination he will make an extraordinary recovery. It will just take time. So many people have asked how they can help, and in learning the long term plan for Jake, it is extensive, and will be expensive. I am hoping to help Jake with the costs associated with transferring him back home to Portland, his overall care needs, and any financial needs that may arise in the coming months. If you feel this is a way you would like to help support Jake, I am sure he would appreciate it. As his brother, I have never been more proud of him. Hello Great Souls!<br /><br />This is Darlene Potter with my daughter, Claire giving you an update on what’s happening at New Renaissance Bookshop.  <br /><br />It’s a beautiful Spring day on NW 23rd.  The cherry tree in front of the bookshop is beginning to bloom and show us its abundant, pink, luscious blossoms.  An unusual quiet fills the street as most businesses have closed and traffic has subsided. Our business too, has closed.  For 32 years, New Renaissance has been a lively community hub of sharing, spirituality, and creativity. The strength and beauty of the bookshop remains and is awaiting its grand reopening. <br /><br />Since our family along with two other friends opened the store, we have strived to offer a beautiful space where many people feel at home and supported on their Path.  We have heard many customers tell us how important the store is to them and many feel that the store is their “temple” or spiritual community. <br /><br />We have an incredible staff of 21 people, each an expert in their own domain.  Many of our staff have been with us for decades. Over the years, we have supported artists, authors, musicians, and spiritual teachers from many traditions. We support independent publishers and give a voice to new authors.  We also have a collection of beautiful and unique gifts, jewelry, and textiles from both local and global artisans. We support conscious business practices and strive to take dharmic (ethical) action in our business.  <br /><br />But now we are faced with an unprecedented situation.  Due to Covid-19 and the fact that we have closed to the public for over three weeks, we are running out of cash to pay our rent, utilities, payroll, liabilities and publishers.  We need to ensure that we have enough funds to help us survive this closure; plus enough capital to re-open and carry us through a probable recession.   <br /><br />We have spent this past week researching the loans and grants offered through the federal government and independent organizations. The forgiveness part of the government loans have many restrictions and due to our specific situation, we may not qualify.  We are hesitant to take on more debt without any indication that we can re-open soon or generate meaningful income to pay it off.  We have applied for a couple small grants so far and are researching more.    <br /><br />We are asking for your immediate support so that New Renaissance can continue to be a Light for our Community.  The funds donated will keep us afloat through this time of closure and beyond. As we navigate this unique challenge together, the money that you donate will offer us a lifeline to become strong and viable again!       <br /><br />If you can give any amount, we are truly grateful.  Thank you for all your support and love over these past 32 years.  It is an honor to serve you and be a part of your lives. <div>Unfortunately on Sunday 10/26/25 Jose Galvez was in a vehicle that’s was stopped for an inspection of Identification, When they asked for proof of status he couldn’t provided it.

<div>he is currently being detained in Tacoma Washington, we are in the process of retaining a lawyer and this puts a hardship on Guadalupe because retaining a immigration lawyer is going to cost. Without Jose being able to work, they can run the difficulties of losing their home, and not having enough to live. This total is about the average of what they lawyers we have spoken with want to charge. This does not include any living expenses and travel expenses that can come in the near future. The facility is about 3.5 hours away. His court date is set for 11/17/25. Guadalupe is heart broken and has been without seeing her Fiance! His daughter cries and screams for her daddy do come home. She is 4 doesn’t understand the concept of this world we live in! Even if you can’t donate please share this story and to anyone that can spread the word. <div>El al momento está detenido en Tacoma Washington estamos en el proceso de contratar un abogado. Lo malo es que es muy costoso. Esto pone en una situación con dificultad financiera a Guadalupe. Sin el trabajo y las finanzas que probé José, les pone en peligro que pierdan su hogar y sus gastos de día a día. El total es más oh menos los que no quieren cobrar un abogado. Esto no incluye los gastos de viaje de Tacoma está a 3.5 horas en vehículo.

<div>One bad news Jose Galvez was forcefully moved to a different facility all the way to New Mexico. In Cibola county, Now means we need to try to retain a different lawyer in that state and more travel expenses for his court date. The good news is he was not by force deported without his proper day with a judge in court. We hope you can share to help keep this family together.  His daughter is having separation anxiety and cries everyday for her daddy! It breaks everyone’s hearts.
