<div>Families are facing unprecedented challenges as recent cuts to WIC and SNAP have left many struggling to afford groceries.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In May, through this partnership, we sent 19 $150 Hungryroot gift cards (nearly $3000) to help families and individuals navigating food insecurity, disability, job loss, caregiving, medical challenges, and life transitions.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>These cards went to single parents raising children alone after separation, deportation, widowhood, foster adoption, or absent support; families coming out of homelessness or currently living in motels while trying to rebuild stability; parents caring for children with autism, disabilities, chronic illness, ARFID, food allergies, and high support needs; disabled adults, caregivers, and people managing serious medical conditions, surgeries, chronic illness, mobility loss, and mental health challenges; households impacted by lost SNAP benefits, reduced assistance, unemployment, reduced work hours, and rising grocery costs; families stretched thin by caregiving responsibilities, medical bills, vehicle loss, and unexpected financial emergencies; working parents, teachers, social workers, and caregivers doing everything they can to keep food on the table despite incredibly difficult circumstances; and people trying to provide healthier, nourishing meals for their families while balancing impossible budgets and overwhelming life situations.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In June the House of Representatives passed a bill cutting 141 million from WIC’s fruit and vegetable benefit.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dropping the assistance from 52 dollars a month to 13 dollars a month for breastfeeding moms.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From $26 a month to $10 a month for young children.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Whether this passes or not, families are struggling, and they need more help not less.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So I want to cover groceries for 6 months to a year for a family who could really use the help right now.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And I’m calling you in to help me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This month - whatever I’m able to pull together with this - Hungryroot is doubling it, as a part of our partnership, up to $5000.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So if we come up with $5000 - a family in need will get a gift card for $10,000 to use for groceries. (A funds above and beyond that will be added to the gift card total)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I know you’ve seen the viral videos from people like Mdmotivator and Jimmydarts where lives are truly changed from people coming together for someone in need.
</div>
<div>Its incredible. It’s heartwarming and heartbreaking.
</div>
<div>And its possible to truly bless someone.
</div>

Coach John Noel x Hungryroot Grocery Fund

<div>In the aftermath of the Highland Park, IL shootings on July 4, the North Shore community rallied to help a boy who we knew nothing about. We took him to safety under tragic circumstances, came together to locate his grandparents, and prayed for the safety of his family.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Sadly, I need to share his name…Aiden McCarthy. And he needs more of our help. His parents Irina &amp; Kevin were killed during the July 4 shooting. At two years old, Aiden is left in the unthinkable position; to grow up without his parents.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Aiden will be cared for by his loving family and he will have a long road ahead to heal, find stability, and ultimately navigate life as an orphan. He is surrounded by a community of friends and extended family that will embrace him with love, and any means available to ensure he has everything he needs as he grows.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>On behalf of his family, and with their permission, I am establishing this fundraiser to support him and the caregivers who will be tasked with raising, caring for, and supporting Aiden as he and his support system embark on this unexpected journey.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Thank you for your generosity, kindness and support.

<div>As the military invasion in Ukraine escalates, millions of people are facing a serious humanitarian crisis and are in need of urgent assistance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Together, we can support communities impacted by this devastating violence and the regions open to helping displaced people.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>All donations raised will be distributed to verified nonprofit organizations supporting vulnerable communities to obtain access to shelter, food, medical services, education, and psychosocial support, as well as other people impacted.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are collaborating with a number of partners including the US Department of State and Global Giving to identify organizations that are providing effective relief now to those impacted.

<div>Our friend and colleague, Taylor Coffman, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on January 27, 2022. Baby JJ is home and doing well. Unfortunately, Taylor experienced some life-threatening complications after giving birth and has been in and out of ICU since. We're not sure when Taylor will return home to be with Zach and JJ, but it looks as if her recovery may be a bit of a long haul.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Zach has been juggling baby duty and hospital visits, and we'd like to raise funds to help with childcare and other expenses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Taylor has been with Southern California Public Radio (SCPR) since 2008 and has had many critical roles, including Front Office Receptionist, Executive Coordinator and Office Manager. If you’re lucky enough to know Taylor, you’ll know she’s generous, friendly, and always willing to help. She has been instrumental in working on the annual report, producing videos for SCPR, and serving as a referral funnel for many that have joined us throughout the years—the highest honor!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As the current, Operations Manager of LAist Studios, Taylor has kept the trains running, building systems and processes to elevate the stories we tell. Every day, Taylor wears so many hats: producer, writer, team leader, connector, project manager... it goes on and on. In so many ways, she has been the practical and emotional backbone of our entire operation. She is kind, respectful, inspirational, and always an enthusiastic teammate. We miss her greatly, and we have her in our thoughts every day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your love and support are deeply appreciated. Please keep Taylor, Zach and JJ in your thoughts and send them your positive vibes.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Latanya Devaughn, a mother of 3 and founder of Bronx Bound Books. I was born and raised in The Bronx. For almost 20 years, I’ve wanted to create a bookstore in The Bronx. With gentrification hitting The Bronx really hard! Vacant storefronts are popping up left and right. Mom and Pop stores are vanishing in my backyard. Owning a brick and mortar bookstore isn’t part of my journey. Instead of giving up on the dream of owning a bookstore, I decided to create “a bookstore on wheels.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="54430040_1612561709799002_r.jpeg" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54430040_1612561709799002_r.jpeg" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Every neighborhood in The Bronx deserves a bookstore, even if it’s just for one day” --Latanya Devaughn</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My dream is to bring books to all corners of The Bronx, especially the parts that have traditionally been left out. A brick and mortar store isn’t part of my journey because a storefront can’t achieve access to books for all. With our “bookstore on wheels” we can.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>“Bronx Bound Books a Bookstore on Wheels!” We are the bookstore that comes to you.  The bus will travel the streets of The Bronx to bring literature to the people. We’ll to grow our relationship with the community. We are happy to collaborate with local businesses, schools, parks groups, shelters and organizations that encourage literacy in our community. We’ll host outdoor read-alouds, open mics, writing workshops, arts and crafts...pretty much anything a traditional bookstore does. Eventually, when it is safe we plan to host small events inside of our “bookstore on wheels”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am so proud of how far we’ve come. Bronx Bound Books was officially announced to the community on May 5th, 2019. On that rainy day over 100 people were in attendance. They came ready and willing to help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since then we’ve visited various neighborhoods in The Bronx. With the help of so many community partners we were able to donate over 7,000 free books in our community. Bronx Bound Books wants to make books accessible to readers in our community. We encourage book ownership! Books belong in every home in The Bronx. Our future bookstore will have a price point that reflects our community.
</div>

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Without the bus I’ve been doing the work on Foot! Shout to my friends and family that help pick up books for us. Thank you friends for giving me rides to events and to pickup book donations. Now that we have the bus Bronx Bound Books can do way more for the community.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>With the help of a small business  grant we were able to PURCHASE OUR BUS! During these uncertain times Bronx Bound Books wants to continue to do the work in our community. With this bus we can do more. We can continue to show up for our borough! With your help our vision can be a reality.

<div>We are seeking to raise $10,000.
</div>

Bronx Bound Books a bookstore on wheels!

Whatcom County (in Washington State) is blessed to have many excellent parks and playgrounds, however, none are purpose-built with "play for all" as the central goal. While many have one or two therapeutic swings or some wheelchair ramp access, none are truly accessible by all kids regardless of physical ability or special needs. That is why we are passionate about supporting the <a href="https://www.northsidepark.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Northside Community Inclusive Playground</a> and the mission to build a park in our community that will support playtime for any child, including those who need special equipment and access. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/55090464_1614991363765553_r.jpeg" alt="55090464_1614991363765553_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />Emergency Reporting, a cloud-based SaaS company based in Bellingham, WA, specializes in Fire records management (RMS). In the middle of 2020, Emergency Reporting committed to helping our customers, our community, our local citizens, and the society around us as well. To help achieve these goals Emergency Reporting created a DEI Committee (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,) and they began looking for local projects that fit into the mission of creating more equity and inclusion in our communities. The Northside Community Inclusive Playground was a perfect fit, so we're opening our efforts out to the whole company.<br /><br />On the project's <a href="https://www.northsidepark.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">website,</a> there are many specialized pieces of equipment that will be needed to create the park. Emergency Reporting is setting its sights on raising $4,600 to cover all of the <a href="https://www.northsidepark.org/donate/p/ramp" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Five Wheelchair Ramps</a>. With the help of its employees, family, and friends, we believe we can meet this goal and have a direct impact on these kids' lives and their ability to enjoy a safe, fun, and a fully inclusive playground.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/55090464_1614991416719635_r.jpeg" alt="55090464_1614991416719635_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />ER will also match employee donations up to $5,000!<br /><br />The park's construction is currently scheduled for Spring 2021, so we need to raise the money and have it distributed to the group by May 1, 2021, to have the materials purchased and ready to go by the first day of the build.<br /><br />If you have any questions or want to know more about the project, you can visit their website, www.northsidepark.org, or leave a comment on the campaign and someone will get back to you.<br /><br />Thank you from everyone at Emergency Reporting for helping an incredibly powerful project come to life.
