<div>With my support, Atticus is working with a local disability attorney. Applying for federal disability assistance is a complex administrative process, and the lawyer is encouraging Atticus to not have any employment during an application process that may take a year or longer.

<div>Because Atticus can’t work and, unfortunately, has limited family financial resources to depend on, he’s having a difficult time finding ways to pay monthly rent, utilities and other living expenses. Shawna was a devoted mother to six children, known for her warmth, her protective spirit, and her love of cooking for her family. She was tragically taken from us by gun violence while doing what she did best—protecting her children. Shawna’s mother, Tanya, and her sister, Brittianie, are now combining their homes to care for all of Shawna’s children, working to keep the family together and provide the stability they desperately need. <div>As I grew in my faith, I pursued theological education and graduated with a degree in theology. I worked as an associate pastor at a church in India for four years. And while I was happy with my work, I couldn’t escape the feeling that God was calling me to something more.

<div>During the COVID pandemic, I sought the Lord and felt strongly led to pursue training in worship ministry. As I researched local worship ministry programs, I discovered that no Bible schools in India offered a degree in this field. So, I felt compelled to come to America to study at the Moody Bible Institute. God confirmed this calling when despite the challenges of immigration during the COVID-19 pandemic, he miraculously opened doors for me. Visas were exceedingly rare, but I got one.

<div>Moody has been an answer to prayer. I am receiving the equipping I so desired! Rich theological, practical, and musical training that equips me to lead the people of God well. Coming to the states has also blessed me through the local church. I attend Calvary Memorial Church in Oak Park, where I am actively involved in worship ministry and get a hand-on opportunity to serve the body of Christ.

<div>Many churches fall into the false dichotomy of choosing between an emotive experience of God and solid, biblically edifying worship. But my time at Moody and Calvary is teaching me how to bridge this gap, crafting worship services that are not only engaging but deeply rooted in the truth of God’s Word and promises. I am now interning with Calvary this summer to learn and grow as a worship leader.

<div>God has been so faithful in providing these incredible blessings, but as you may know, being an international student has its own set of unique challenges. My visa status limits my employment options to only on campus jobs, and only for very limited hours. Furthermore, my wife is not legally allowed to work as a student dependent.

<div>Despite these challenges, we have made it through two years of schooling—mainly by relying upon a scholarship for international students. We expected to receive this scholarship all four years of my program. However, in my junior year, due to the impact of COVID-19, the funding for my scholarship ran out, and the scholarship was discontinued. This has left my family and me in a tough spot, practically and financially. We cannot afford the last three semesters; but to go back to India now would make the tens of thousands of dollars, and all the sacrifices we’ve made to be here seem meaningless….

<div>On December 27, 2023, Logan Hickle was diagnosed with stage 4 small bowel cancer, just two months before his baby daughter was due. This rare and aggressive cancer, especially unusual for someone his age with no known genetic or environmental risk factors, took a devastating toll on Logan's health and his family. Even more heartbreaking, there is little research on this type of cancer, making treatment options scarce.

<div>Over the course of the year, Logan endured unimaginable pain and countless medical challenges, including 8 hospitalizations, 9 surgical procedures including the placement of 5 stents in his digestive tract, 12 rounds of intensive chemotherapy, plus a few maintenance rounds, 4 bowel obstructions, 3 bouts of sepsis, 1 nephrostomy tube and bag, too many E.R. visits and doctor's appointments to count, 5 second opinions, cabinets full of medications, 3 NG tube placements and more.

<div>Despite these extreme challenges, Logan faced each emergency with unmatched courage, all while diving into his new role as a father to his newborn, Phoebe.

<div>Sadly, just days shy of the one year anniversary of his diagnosis, Logan passed away in the early hours of Christmas Eve. With no further treatment options available, he came home on hospice care, surrounded by his loved ones, where he passed with his wife Paula by his side.

About a year ago, Dennis wasn’t feeling well and after lots of testing, was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. Dennis quickly took action to improve his health, but continued to decline and was told his only option was a transplant.

<div>So many friends have reached out to be screened for donation of a live partial liver and most of those people were turned away due to their age, but still ask what they can do to help. Sue and Dennis are honest, kind and humble people, who didn’t go public with Dennis’ health issues at first, and wanted to keep it a private family matter, and certainly didn’t want to ask for help.

<div>Dennis and Sue received a call that there was a possible donor in Philadelphia, and they immediately went to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) to check in. After spending more than 24 hours at the hospital, it was determined that the liver was not a good match, and Dennis was discharged from the hospital. Two days later they received another call and quickly traveled back to the hospital. Dennis received a new liver on June 12 and will be in the hospital for at least another week.

<div>Dennis has been unable to work for the past year and will now face a lengthy recovery, and friends want to help! All proceeds of this fund will go directly to Dennis and Sue, which will help with medical costs not covered by insurance, hospital travel and lodging (as they will need to travel to Philly frequently during recovery). Sue is visiting Dennis during his hospitalization and the travel and lodging costs are quickly adding up. No donation is too small, and any amount is greatly appreciated. Medical procedures and prescriptions have helped alleviate some of that pain however the nerves are still being affected and damaged by the bone spurs. This is causing my left arm to become progressively weaker and I have to take more medication to keep the pain away. Unfortunately, I have to have surgery to solve the problem and now is the time.

Drumming Up Funds for R. Scott Bryan Medical Fund

This wonderful family recently suffered a life-changing tragedy. Kyle Dodson, loving husband and father of two, passed away suddenly from a massive heart attack on March 26, 2021. His death is especially hard on their two young sons, ages 13 and 17, and leaves the family with financial challenges. The older son, who dreams of being a paramedic, heroically performed CPR on his father and even managed to revive Kyle briefly, but Kyle died at the hospital. The younger son loved gardening with his father and hopes to study botany in the future. Kyle’s income was the family’s main source of support. His wife of 26 years and two children are left with financial burdens that will be hard to face without him. They are looking for any support to help cover educational costs and living expenses.<br /><br />Kyle worked so hard for his family, and they often gave to others in need, never dreaming that one day they might have to ask for help. The family and all of us who love them would be deeply grateful for any support as these promising young men prepare for high school and college.

On October 21, 2020, the musical world was shaken when we heard that Jeff Thomas, our friend and colleague, suffered from a major heart attack. Due to 100% blockage and a lack of oxygen, it was required that  he remain medically unconscious in the ICU for a week.  The medical staff was not expecting him to pull through, and if he did, there was fear was that his mental capacity could be seriously compromised.  <br /><br />After a week of fighting against a seemingly impossible recovery (and having a wife that was relentless with the doctors), <strong>HE HAS DEFIED ALL ODDS</strong><strong>!</strong>  After another week in the hospital, three stents later--and the shock of the hospital staff, he has been released from the hospital and is HOME. Anyone who knows him would not be surprised that within 48 hours he picked up his trombone for the first time! Despite his tenacity, the road to full recovery is long, but it is with sincere hope that his road to return to the stage will be short.  Due to not having health insurance, they are looking at insurmountable hospital bills and getting back to full time work will take time.  <br /><br />Please considering donating to the Thomas family to help relieve the strain of this major financial burden. On Monday 7/10/17, while vacationing in his most favorite place... (Colorado) my brother in law suffered a stroke.  
My heart breaks for them.... they remain in Colorado as he is in ICU at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. 
Due to my sisters quick action, Harlan was given the clot buster TPA. Unfortunately he started having an oozing of blood in his brain , so they stopped the blood thinners and waited. 
On  Tuesday the MRI showed a blockade in one of his carotid arteries. There  are quite a few tiny clots in his brain (quite a few in the language area) probably 7 or 8 total in his brain that have already done their damage. There's still a chance the blockage in his neck may spit out more clots into his brain. They are going to continue to do CT scans each day to check for more bleeding. The doctor wants to start the Heparin again in a couple days as long as the bleeding hasn't gotten worse. As long as he tolerates that, they will start him on pill form blood thinner. Once he gets back to Iowa, He will need surgery on that carotid artery...which is very risky surgery, but has to be done.
As you have probably guessed Harlan and Delaine have a long road ahead of them. Harlan will need Physical rehab and speech therapy. He will be out of work for awhile. My sister works but if I know her... she will remain at his side. Therefore they will not have an income for this time of healing and rebuilding.
My brother in-law is a kind, soft spoken, hard working man. He would do anything for you. This is going to be a very difficult time and I'm asking for your help.  Please give what you can. 
Harlan was born on July 13, he spent his 66th birthday in the hospital there in Colorado.
He was born  in Pleasantville and has been Married to my sister for 20 years. He has worked at AIM Media as a senior Illustrator  for 17 years.
It's a pretty helpless feeling waiting and watching. We continue to ask for your prayers.

In early December we learned that my cancer had returned and that I would have a second fight with cancer in 2016. I had a kidney removed earlier this year. Family, friends, and savings were the most important resources my family drew on to make it through this awful time.<br /><br /><br />My wife Jen was also hospitalized twice this year: once in January with a pulmonary embolism, and again in February with a kidney condition that still requires ongoing treatment.  Our 16 year wedding anniversary this year was spent together in outpatient, her hooked up to chemotherapy for her kidney condition and I having visited my doctor.<br /><br /><br />Now my cancer has come back and brought its friends.  I have developed tumors in my lungs, a tumor in a lymph node, and a tumor on an adrenal gland. I am so grateful to still have family and friends, but the savings part is all but vanished.<br /><br /><br />Asking for contributions from family, friends, and strangers alike is not the most comfortable thing to do, but it has come to this. The savings account is empty and the 401k has very little left.<br /><br /><br />If my family’s 2016 was a TV show you wouldn’t watch it because it would be too unbelievable.<br /><br /><br />My family and I are so very grateful for your contribution which will help relieve all of the expenses, medical and non-medical, that come with what’s looking like another long, painful, uphill battle against cancer.
