Help us get the Commerce Drive-in marquee sign lit up again! If we can raise $50,000, we can get electricity for the sign for a period of time.

Val McFarland is leading efforts to rehabilitate the sign and clean up the area around it. After the project is completed, she plans to host a commuity-wide movie event to gather donations for children with special needs and other community projects.

Woodbrook Painting and Powerwashing based in Commerce Township is donating their services to repaint the sign, and other companies with local ties are being asked to join in the efforts as well.

For more details about the sign rehabilitation and proposed community event, check out Oakland Press's article at http://www.theoaklandpress.com/general-news/20170420/commerce-township-drive-in-movie-marquee-to-be-rehabilitated-following-years-of-neglect .

$50,000?!?!?!? haha is this some kind of a joke? replace the bulbs and paint it. no reason this should be over a grand, ESP if services are DONATED. who owns the sign? or the property? they should be the ones paying for this eye sore to become a nice looking landmark again. not looking for overestimated handouts....

Every time I drive past this thing I think to myself "someday I'm gonna buy that and paint it." Super stoked other people feel the same love towards it. My favorite part of my hometown. Thanks for giving it some love!!!
