James Akam former Nato interpreter

Donation protected
In 2010 I was a Canadian soldier serving in the volatile Panjawai district of Afghanistan. During this deployment I had the pleasure of working with my friend James Akam.James is an Afghan who was interpreting for us.

He risked his life serving with Canada and worked to change the situation in his country by doing his part.During my deployement In 2010 James risked his life under enemy fire alongside Canadian troops as well as threats to him and his family by the Taliban.

Unfortunately for him these threats were made real ,and in June or July of that year his parents were executed by the Taliban for his work with Nato.

As you all know Nato forces left Afghanistan in 2014 leaving people who were loyal to Nato like James to there own devices. In August of last year the Taliban came looking for him and others who workes for Nato in his village.James was forced to flee in the middle of the night with nothing but the little money he had left from working with us (his pay was 300 a month) leaving his wife and 5 yr old child behind in the hands of some trusted family members.

I received a message on my Facebook in September of last year.James made it to a refugee camp in Europe and was stuck there.Canada had refused him entry as he was not Syrian or Iraqi. So I called the news papers and after months of public pressure by the government James was finally granted a Visa.

His wife and 5 yr old child are still over there moving every 2 months to stay ahead of the Taliban. Our next step is to get them out of their and bring them to the safety of Canada ,to finally reunite with James and live in peace in Canada.

I am trying to raise enough money to get James started here and enough money to help bring his wife and child out of Afghanistan and to safety.

We are bringing in many refugees that we know nothing about.James showed loyalty and commitment to our western way of life and deserves to live in peace with his family.

No matter how big or little of a donation you make ,myself and James want to thank all of you amazing people for contributing to saving the life of him and his family.
