This GoFundMe page is to support the young family of our dear friend, Kyle Hart, who passed away at 33 years of age on Monday, December 10th. With his unexpected passing, Kyle leaves behind a wonderful wife (32) with a charming two-year-old son and beautiful newborn daughter born only three days before his passing. They are all incredible individuals who deserve the very best care, love, and support in order to get through this devastating time. Although the Hart family would never ask for help, they are some of the most loving and generous people, so we are asking others to consider donating to support the family in the short- and long-term. With two little ones at home, their family has many daily, monthly, and yearly expenses that quickly add up, and we want to make sure the Hart family can focus on their health and happiness rather than expenses for the foreseeable future.

To anyone who knew him, Kyle was an incredible father, husband, son, brother, teacher, and friend. He was the most sincere man each of us had ever met. He was the kind of person who would give you a hug and tell you how much he appreciated your friendship. He would share anything with you — his time, his possessions, his love, and his support. As a father, he absolutely adored his young family and would do anything for them. As a middle-school teacher of social studies and English, Kyle was passionate about his students, often taking note of those who needed an extra boost of confidence and doing whatever it took to brighten their self esteem.

Kyle’s passing is tragic not only for his loss of life but also for the devastating effects on his family. Please know that any amount — no matter how small — will benefit the Hart family. Whether for diapers or a college tuition, your donation will make a significant difference in the lives of Kyle’s wife, son, and daughter. May they live long, happy, and healthy lives with the help of all of us.

With gratitude,
Team Hart

I have been completely overwhelmed by your response to Kyle's passing. Your support means so much to me and Kyle's family. As I work to rebuild our life, these donations have provided me with security and options I would otherwise not have. Just as meaningful have been your comments; they have been a small ray of light in this dark time. I don't know how to thank you all enough for your support.

Warmly,
Kristin Hart

Hello, everyone!

First of all, thank you again and again for your donations; we have reached an astounding $230k, and the numbers keep climbing! Amazing.

This update is to give a shoutout to the GoFundMe employee who nominated our campaign to receive a $500 donation from the company, and we did! The email read:

"Dear Jen,

You may be wondering why we made a $500 donation to your GoFundMe. This week, a GoFundMe team member nominated your fundraiser to receive a donation from GoFundMe as part of our Gives Back program. Every month, GoFundMe gives back over $100K to stories that move us.

....Thank you for being part of our community.

All the best,
The GoFundMe Team"

How cool is that?! Thank you, GoFundMe!

XO,
Team Hart

P.S. Please keep sharing our campaign to help spread the word!

OBITUARY
*************
Kyle Gregory Hart passed away on December 10, 2018, in Redwood City, California.

He was born to Greg and Lori Hart July 3, 1985, and was a lifelong resident of Redwood City. Kyle attended Roy Cloud Elementary and Serra High School. He was curious and participated in sports and activities of all kinds. As a child, he enjoyed playing baseball in the Redwood City Little League and had the thrill of playing in the Western Region finals of the Junior League World Series. Kyle played football and rowed crew at Serra. He loved the ocean and especially sailing, surfing and snorkeling. Other passions included cycling, spending quality time with his family and friends, traveling, cooking and reading.

Kyle earned his BA from UC Santa Barbara, as well as his Master’s in Education and his teaching credential. While in Santa Barbara, Kyle worked as the videographer and manager for the UCSB men’s soccer 2006 National Championship team.

He met his wife Kristin Casterson while she was attending Santa Clara University. They soon found they were kindred spirits with shared values and interests. They married June 15, 2013, at the Los Altos History Museum, befitting of both Kyle’s love of history and Kristin’s family roots.

Kyle shared his passion for lifelong learning as he taught English and history in middle school for the Palo Alto Unified School District. He was known for his innovative projects, loved by his students and well respected by his peers.

As an active member of the community, Kyle and his family enjoyed spending time at Redwood City events, visiting museums and parks. As recent members of the Elks Club, he and his family enjoyed spending time with other young families, as well as with people who knew his cherished grandfather, George Hart.

Kyle is survived by his beloved wife Kristin (Casterson) and his children Liam and Ellie Hart, brothers Brett (Roxanne) and Kristopher, as well as grandmother Arlene Towle, several aunts/uncles, cousins, and parents Greg and Lori Hart.

Kyle’s extended family wishes to offer their sincere appreciation to Pastor Dean Smith for his kind assistance and to the fire departments of San Mateo, Woodside, Redwood City, Foster City and Belmont for their generous support.

We started this campaign only 14 hours ago, and guess what?! We have already raised almost $100,000 for the Hart family. Let me repeat that...

ONE. HUNDRED. THOUSAND. DOLLARS.

We are blown away by all of the love and support from family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and even people who do not personally know the family! What an incredibly community, both near and far.

Well, friends, we have raised the bar once again. So, let's KEEP doing this!
