Mon nom est Francis Thériault. J'habite à Gatineau, Qc, Canada. Je suis physiothérapeute de profession et je travaille présentement à l'Hôpital Montfort à Ottawa.
Je demande votre appui dans cette grande aventure que j'apprête à vivre. J'ai été choisi parmi 4000 participants pour compétitionner dans le Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon. Chaque année, il y a seulement 250 athlètes à travers le monde qui ont la chance d'y participer. Cette course est considérée comme étant le triathlon de distance Ironman la plus difficile au monde. Celle-ci se déroulera le 6 août prochain dans la ville de Eidfjord en Norvège.
L'argent que je réussirai à ramasser me servira à payer les différents frais nécessaires à ce voyage : billet d'avion + frais de transport de vélo, hébergement pour une semaine, la location d'un véhicule (obligatoire pour l'équipe d'accompagnateurs lors de la compétition) et la location d'une boîte de transport pour mon vélo, afin qu'il s'y rende sain et sauf.
Cette course est très importante à mes yeux, puisqu'il s'agit d'une expérience qui n'arrive qu'une fois dans une vie. Elle fait partie de la "bucket list" de tous les triathlètes de longues distances. 2016 est ma chance de participer à cette course incroyable (quelques gens ont appliqués pendant plus de 7 ans sans avoir été choisi). D'une certaine façon, cela réprésente pour moi l'abouttissement d'un projet de 10 ans qui a nécessité beaucoup d'efforts et de nombreuses heures d'entraînement.

I'm seeking your help with this amazing adventure that I'm about to live. I have been chosen among 4000 participants to compete in the Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon. Only 250 athletes in the world compete in this race every year. It's considered by many to be the hardest Ironman distance triathlon in the world. It's going to take place on August 6th, 2016 in Eidfjord, Norway.
The money is going to help me pay for my travel expenses : plane ticket + bike fees , lodging for one week, rental of a vehicle (mandatory for the support crew during the race) and the rental of a bike case to carry my bike safely on the plane.
This race means so much to me because it's a once in a lifetime experience. It's on the bucket list of every long distance triathlete and this is my chance to do it (some people have waited more than 7 years to be chosen for the race in the past). In a way, it represents all the hard work that I have put into this sport in the last 10 years and it feels like the culmination of a very long ... and hard project.
