Please help us escape the house that’s killing us.
Three Year’s ago my wife and I moved back into her childhood home. We understood that the house had fallen into some disrepair in the absence of having people live in it and were willing to try our best to fix her beloved home.
Neither of us had the best of health to start with. My wife has scoliosis and had to have spinal fusion at the age of 11. And I had a week leg from a childhood accident that required multiple surgeries to fix. But we were young 20 something’s with our whole lives ahead of us and we’re excited to be out on our own. Now, just a little over three years later, our health has significantly gone down hill. Constant body aches and joint stiffness are the daily norm. I now suffer from chronic migraines and skin sensitivity so bad that most normal fabrics feel excruciating to wear. I constantly say I’m too young to feel this old.
Black mold has been found in multiple locations throughout the house, both bathroom walls, the ceiling and even in our mattress.
We we have to move immediately and simply do not have the funds to do so.
We will be packing up items that can be salvaged, ceramic, glass and metal utensils and dishware that can be cleansed. Everything else must be left behind. All furniture, all personal belongings like family photos and keepsakes from my late parents must be left behind.
We will have he clothes on our backs and our animals, but we will rise from this stronger.
