Help Give Zavien a Chance

Donation protected
(In Memory of my little brother Michi who was born
4-30-11 and passed same day)

Hi, my name is Zavien.

HERE IS MY WISH...

Have you ever heard about the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders? I have just been extended an invitation to receive the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologist Award of Excellence. This award has been given to me because of my outstanding achievement in education with a 3.8 GPA, leadership potential, and determination to serve humanity in the field of science & technology. Not only has this award been given to me but I have also been nominated to attend an 8 day Envision program through the National Youth Leadership Forum for Engineering & Technology. This takes place on 3 college campuses: Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering in Boston, MA, Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA and the University of California, Berkeley near San Francisco, CA, each ranked in the top 5 engineering schools nationally in its category. I may choose to attend the program in any one of these locations.

I am honored to be given such a rare opportunity so I set up this Go Fund Me page to see if I can get help to achieve this.

HERE IS MY STORY...(There's a 3 minute video at the end when you scroll down)

The last 2 years my parents and I have been sacrificing EVERYTHING to provide for my 2 new baby brothers. Anyone who has been following me knows that they came into this world very prematurely.

My brother Y'dari was born at 28 weeks and 5 days. He had to spend over 90 days in the hospital.

My newest baby brother Miles was also born early at 31 weeks. He spent a month in the hospital.

We have experienced financial hardship for the last 16 months in order to provide the necessary care they need to remain healthy and strong.  At times, we had to stay at the Ronald McDonald Charity House just so we could be close to the hospital. There were many days where we were separated as a family because my parents had to juggle their time from home and the hospital.

To witness my first brother Y'dari's long hospital stay and all the shots and apnea machines he came home with, then witness watching my mom endure painful weekly shots just so my second baby brother would stay inside her as long as possible--and yet, THAT didn't happen--I've grown in alot of ways. Having to give up time with friends or anything I was involved in was easy once I laid eyes on my first brother Y'dari. Bottom line is, my dad works his butt off. My mom had to give up working so she can keep both my brothers home so they can stay safe.
I've learned you can't expose premature babies alot. You must keep them away from people so they don't get germs and catch colds. Their immune system is so fragile.
I'm sharing my story and my family's journey because I would like to take some time for my own dreams to come true. I would like a chance to seek the opportunity to take advantage of this invitation that was given to me...I just need some help

Currently I am a sophomore at Fairhope High School. My dreams and aspirations are to be part of the field of engineering. This chance of a lifetime to receive this award will help me get scholarships, admission to top colleges, and even 2 college credits!

What will I encounter on this 8 day trip?
I will be able to:
-- come face to face with winners of the Nobel Prize
-- speak with Deans of the world's top 10 universities
-- meet with world leaders in science
-- visit with award-winning young mentors and scientists
-- be hands on with simulation exercises and many other workshops (robotics, game/web design, 3D Modeling, etc)

To meet and be mentored by these people would be an outstanding experience. Please help me not miss this chance. There is an additional 6 day extended program called "Technology and Innovation". I remain HOPEFUL that I can raise enough to attend BOTH, but I will be grateful just to be able to attend the MAIN event (NYLF Engineering & Technology).

I need to raise enough money to cover Tuition AND Travel expenses since my parents are not in a position to afford this for me at this time. ANY and all support in my endeavors leaves me grateful beyond words. I will be forever thankful.

To know how precious life is--where hard work & friendship open doors and creates life's richest experiences--fuels my desire to seize this opportunity and make the most of it.

I humbly ask all my family...all my friends...people who I have simply met, to please sponsor me. I pray I can set a positive example for my little brothers as they get older.
Every little bit that is donated will help me.

If you can help me spread my story and share , I thank you for that.

Half of my tuition is due March 20th. Final is in May.
This event is from June28-July 5, 2015.

Thank you for your kindness and consideration to read this.

With all my heart,
Zavien

Here's a BONUS VIDEO of my mom being interviewed by our local tv station. We spent the holidays at the Ronald McDonald Charity House. They choose her since we were a family that stayed there twice.
