Your kindness and support for Jan

If you have met my sister in law, Jan Brummel, you already know the kind, loving and inspirational soul she portrays. She means the world to so many.
She became a widow at a very young age, in 2002, due to my brothers diagnosis of cancer in just 21 short days. To say that life has been a challenge is an understatement, but she always seems to persever. Since this time she has struggled financially to make ends meet and always puts others before herself.
A mother of 3 beautiful daughters, a grandmother of 14, and 1 great granddaughter, who are very dear to her heart.
This past August she was hospitalized with a respiratory illness and underwent extensive testing. The doctors discovered a very large mass on 1 kidney and a diagnosis of cancer. She was immediately scheduled for a complete Nephrectomy in September, but due to insurance requirements and expenses she was forced to cancel.
Over the past several months the family has worked together to purchase insurance through the government exchange program that is only partially accommodating to her financial situation. With only 1 insurance carrier available that is accepted by her doctors and hospital. Her future medical expenses are foreseen to be ongoing and astronomical.
She is, once again, scheduled for surgery on January 4, 2017. Her prognosis and future treatments of chemotherapy and radiation are unknown at this time.
Family means the world to me and Jan means the world to her family and many others.
With the new year approaching and our New Years resolutions, I hope that everyone can find it in their hearts to give Jan the fighting chance she deserves and help her recover emotionally as well as financially through this unfortunate life experience.
