As of now, the story is being shared in two groups. If we gain momentum I will ask our friend permission to share her story publicly.
EDIT: WRITTEN BY OUR FRIEND, JOANNA
At 11:30 pm on Friday, September 29th, our world was turned upside down when a police officer knocked on our door and said that Justyce, my rock, my best friend, my light in the darkness, my baby boy, had been in a car accident, was unconscious and was en route to the hospital. I got to the hospital only to learn that he had a head injury and was being airlifted to the hospital in the city where they were better equipped to take care of him. My beautiful 18 year old boy, with a smile that lights up every room he enters, is currently in a coma with bleeding and swelling on the brain. The doctors are confident that he WILL wake up, they’re just not sure when, and it will be a long road to recovery once he does. We’re looking at at least 6-8 months of recovery efforts including physical and likely occupational and cognitive therapy as well. This GoFundMe was put together for us by some wonderful friends of mine, without whom I don’t know how I would have gotten through the last few years, let alone this most trying time in any mother’s life. I keep trying to find the words to express just how much this, and they, mean to me, but nothing seems powerful enough. I love you guys. I am blown away by everything you have done, and by everyone who’s donated. To know that so many people are pulling for my kiddo is the best gift a mother could ever get. If you are unable to donate, you can help by saying a little prayer for my Justyce, and if you have kids of your own, give them an extra squeeze tonight, and every night.
