Help Windy with medical costs
Hello! My name is Windy. I am a wife, mother, grad student and nurse. My entire life, I have been a "helper". I have also always been a hard worker. I got my first "real" job when I was 14. Throughout my college career, I worked full time while I was attending school, sometimes, picking up part time work when we needed extra funds. Currently, I work as part of a rapid response team, which responds to emergencies throughout the entire hospital. It's a tough job, but not nearly as hard as having to tell my family that I have cancer. Still harder is asking you all for help, but several friends encouraged me to create a gofundme page. I'm usually the one that does the helping. I'm not very good at sitting still or letting others take care of me. I know that I'm blessed. My general health is good. I have a great support network, and I have insurance. The problem is that my insurance has a $6,000 deductible, and it will only pay 70%, after that. I also will get short term disability payments, but those are only 60% of my normal pay. I know I'm lucky. At my stage, I have a great chance of being cured with just surgery. I have to admit, though, that I am so worried about finances that I have seriously considered not having my surgery. We are currently a single income family, and I feel guilty that I will be the cause of our family going into such debt. I'm sad that, while I recover, I won't be able to take care of our children. I won't even be able to hold them. To be worried about feeding them and keeping the lights on is nearly enough to make me forego the surgery. I look at their sweet faces, though, and I know I have to fight for them. I have to try. If you can help, it will be appreciated more that I would ever be able to express. If you can't, I understand. In either case, if you can spread the word, it would be an amazing gift! The support and good wishes I have received, already, have made a huge impact on my ability to carry on. Love to all of you!
