We are making a movie! A special movie about adoption called, In My Heart. And as Luc the writer/director says, "It’s a love letter to my birth mom”.
This is my first venture into producing & I am honored to help bring this story to life. I know this story. I placed a beautiful boy for adoption 31 years ago, we have since reconnected. Our love, respect and friendship have grown over the past 5 years into a relationship which I am grateful for everyday. Thank you for finding me, Dan.
We have been selected for the Film4ward program offered through FilmPEI to make our short film, how very exciting! Making a movie is expensive. The funding we have received is $20,000 and FilmPEI donates the equipment in kind. I have budgeted two days of shooting, labour for cast and crew will be $10,000 ($5000/day). Being the kind, generous and professional humans they are, they want to help make this project as beautiful as possible, so they are working at a reduced daily rate. To tell this story and to ease the stress of long days, one more day of shooting would be amazing. The remaining $10,000 of funding goes towards pre and post production, sound, editing, color correction and entering festivals. This is where I am asking for help: if we are able to raise $5000, we can add another day of shooting and ensure we are able to take our time to capture all the beauty. Any money raised over $5000, I will increase the daily rates for the cast and crew. I will not be taking any for myself.
I know it has been a year, a hard year. The arts have been devastated as have many other industries. Being awarded the opportunity to produce this project is a light in these dark times for me & I think I can say the same for all of the folks involved.
