Walking from Melbourne to Sydney for Mental health
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Andrew Hogan and I am a former jockey. In Sep/Oct 2025 I am walking from Flemington racecourse in Melbourne to Rosehill racecourse in Sydney, to raise funds and awareness for mental health.
Starting at Flemington on Sep 15th and finishing at Rosehill on Oct 10th. I want to start at Flemington as it’s home to the Melbourne Cup and it’s where my favourite racehorse Lets Elope won the Cup. I want to finish at Rosehill as it’s where I first started riding racehorses and it’s where I met my wife. Tragically I lost my wife, and was left to raise our then 2 year old daughter on my own. Finishing on Oct 10 is so important because it’s world Mental health day and it’s also my 50th birthday. It’s approximately a 1000km walk, however the cause means so much to me, and I will conquer this walk.
I am walking for anyone that has, is or who we have lost to mental health, so in other words everyone!
My out of pocket expenses are going to be quite high roughly around $12000-$15,000. The main cost being the rental of a campervan. That cost alone is around $10,000. It is a priority I have a campervan for the walk as it will be used for cooking, showering and sleeping. Add to that the cost of food, shoes, inner souls, wet weather gear and the list is endless.
All funds above my out of pocket expenses will go to the mental health charities, including The National Jockeys Trust.

Let’s get as many people involved as possible, because together we can all make a difference.
