Preschool Scholarship Fund for WCP Families

Hello all!

My name is Rachael Therrian, and I am the Director and Lead Teacher at Wacousta Cooperative Preschool in Eagle, MI. We are a tiny, rural, cooperative, play-based preschool that focuses on the children we serve, their families and our greater community. We are one of 2 cooperative preschools left in our area. Our little school has been serving the Wacousta community proudly for the last 50 years! We are so proud of our deep roots and our connection to our community!

This year, we were forced to make some significant changes at our school to keep it alive. It is essential to stay true to our cooperative, child-centered roots. Still, we also needed to modernize our model to make our school accessible to a more significant proportion of our community. To do this, we were forced to raise tuition by almost double. We are painfully aware that this puts an additional strain on the families in our community who are in great need of high-quality preschool for their children. We believe early childhood education is vital to the children's success in our community. We believe that all children have the right to access high-quality preschool, regardless of their family's financial status. We must ensure that all families in our community can gain access to financial support for early education.

So, Wacousta Cooperative Preschool is allowing our families to participate in fundraisers to offset up to 25% of their tuition; we kept our tuition rates the lowest in the area, and why we have begun the Wacousta Cooperative Preschool Scholarship Fund. We need your help to get it started! Please consider donating even $5 to help us continue to provide the Wacousta community with high-quality, child-centered, play-based preschool for another 50 years.
