Help Scott Overcome Medical Challenges

Donation protected
Scott has been through more in the last ten years than most will ever go through in their lifetime, and he has proved again how strong he really is. From autoimmune disorders, Raynaud's, cancer with extensive surgeries, and scleroderma. For the last year or so, he has been battling pain in his foot, which led to a bypass surgery. During the surgery, a synthetic graft was placed to attempt to restore the blood flow to his right foot. Due to poor healing, a wound vac was placed to assist with healing. This went on until November of 2024 when it was found that there was an infection in the graft that needed treatment. This was an effort to save his right leg. He was hospitalized for a week and underwent another procedure to place antibiotic beads in the graft. Following those procedures, the wound vac was placed back on the leg to help further with the healing.

Fast forward to the end of January 2025, he started feeling ill and worsening and was taken to the ER multiple times, multiple nights in the hospital, severe dehydration, and norovirus. In February, he was again experiencing severe right leg pain and was able to manage this pain at home as well as remove the wound vac that was helping heal the leg.

On Sunday, February 23rd, he was relaxing in his home when suddenly his leg gave out and he fell. From this fall, he started bleeding profusely from the unhealed wound on the leg, and due to his sister's quick actions, she stopped the bleeding enough to get him in an ambulance to the hospital. On Monday, the 24th, he went into surgery to remove the graft as it had failed and was deemed unsafe. With the removal of the graft, he lost blood flow to that foot. On Thursday afternoon, the 27th of February, he was required to undergo surgery to amputate the right leg above the knee, as nothing more could be done to save the leg.

Unfortunately, all this leads to a growing number of medical bills and other expenses that are outstanding. We are asking for any contributions that you can so kindly offer, even if that is thoughts and prayers. With the amputation, there will be new challenges to conquer and medical equipment needs, to allow him to maintain his independence, which insurance cannot cover.
