Urgent Help for Serena's Surgery and Recovery
Donation protected
Serena is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois with an incredible spirit and a heart full of love. She had a tough start in life - abandoned in Riverside, California, left chained to a fence with another dog, and scheduled for euthanasia in a high-kill shelter. Thankfully, my close friend Amy adopted her in August 2023. Since then, Serena has flourished, becoming a loyal and affectionate companion who even inspired Amy to run a marathon! Unfortunately, on October 20, 2024, tragedy struck when Serena became trapped in a fence, suffering a devastating "degloving" injury that exposed muscle and caused severe skin damage. She has undergone multiple surgeries and weekly bandage changes from October through December, with more to come. Amy, a dedicated foster and rescue supporter, faced significant medical bills to cover Serena’s ongoing treatment. The total costs reached around $10,000. Thankfully, some of these expenses have been reimbursed and folks stepped in to help! Last week, veterinarians determined that Serena’s wound was stagnant and not going to heal. They determined that they needed to do a skin flap surgery for Serena to recover use of her leg. This surgery is scheduled for December 16th at an additional cost of $6,698.23. While, a portion of this is expected to be reimbursed, Amy will still need help covering the costs. I’m reaching out to ask for your support—any donation, big or small, will make a meaningful difference in Serena’s recovery. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
