Hello ♥️ I'm organising this fundraiser to help my friend raise funds for her final year of her undergrad degree starting this September. She is currently an international student at UBC studying Animal Biology. She’s a queer immigrant, coming out of a homophobic family and has been completely financially cut off. It is necessary for her to graduate to stay in the country and obtain a work permit, or she will be forced to return home into the same environment, putting her physical and mental wellbeing at risk.

International tuition is much higher than domestic (4-5 times), and impossible to earn in a short duration, worsened by visa limitations and the high cost of living. She’s working part-time and has throughout her undergrad. We’re exploring other resources at UBC, but have been unsuccessful so far. It’s also difficult to navigate as she’s been without MSP (BC's provincial health insurance) for years due to unaffordabilty, which has worsened her struggle with depression and anxiety, due to lack of access to medication or mental health support.
