Ukrainian Alisa's Bone Marrow Transplant Treatment
Donation protected
My name is Brian Snyder from Apex, NC, and I am a volunteer for a local Ukrainian association in the Carolinas. A dear friend of mine, Anastasia Vedmid, asked me to post this on Alisa's behalf.
Alisa Kanyhina is a 24 years old, kind, cheerful woman from eastern Ukraine. In February 2022, she was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma. Anatasia and Alisa left for Turkey two days before the Russian invasion. Since then, Alisa has been receiving treatment in Turkey and has already made progress in treatment, and the next steps are bone marrow transplant, extensive radiation treatment and several months of rehabilitation. Her treatment at the Medical Park in Antalya, Turkey, will cost 35,000 euros which she doesn't have. Cancer does not discriminate, not even when your country is being invaded. Please consider contributing.
From Alisa:
Cancer is a disease that does not make itself felt for a long time. Nothing hurts you, you don't feel it, you live an ordinary life. It happens that you only learn about a terminal illness when you are really one step to death ...This is what happened to me. I led a healthy lifestyle. I loved sports: gym, dancing, boxing, stretching ... I felt great. For a long time, there was no indication that anything was happening.
The first symptom was suffocation while lying down. I went to my GP and was told it could be the effects of COVID, which I had recently had, and that it would all go away. And yet it didn't. In late December, I developed a strange cough, completely different from when you catch a cold. After thorough research, I found out that I have Hodgkin's lymphoma. I was terribly sad because this tumor cannot be operated on and is always associated with a long and tiring chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
I was 24 years old with a 17 cm tumor and metastases to neighboring organs. However, I really wanted to live.
I lost my hair, my physical condition and all my savings. Professional ambitions turned into a stay in a hospital room, but I kept the most important - life. After six months of treatment, there is great progress! The metastases were overcome, the tumor itself shrank significantly. However, the disease is a strong enemy and is not so easy to overcome. In my case, a bone marrow transplant is necessary, but everything I had was spent during the previous stages of treatment. I cannot believe that my dream of life will be crushed by the lack of funds, so please, I am begging you for help. I have to win.
