UK to Ukraine Ambulance aid fundraiser Chris O'Connor

Hi,

My name is Dean, also known as Travelling Veteran, I am an Armed Forces Veteran of six and a half years, serving in Bosnia and Iraq.

Last year I got to know a Chelsea Pensioner by the name of Chris, we met as we were both taking part in the Veterans Banger Rally, where we drove from Dover to Gibraltar raising funds for various charities.

Me and Chris spoke in great detail about his life experiences, especially about driving and delivering aid to the people of Ukraine, especially the Childrens Hospital in Lviv, I met Chris again only a few weeks ago where he spoke of wanting to do one last trip, even in his poor health at the time.

Unfortunately, Chris wasn't able to make that last trip as he sadly passed away due to his increasingly poor health.

Therefore, I will keep my promise to Chris and make that last trip in Chris's honour.

I have spoken to various Ukranian support groups and have decided to work alongside the International Aid Trust, they provide aid to the people of Ukraine to help them survive this terrible time.

Here is a link to the International Aid Trust website:

What do we want?
I would like to raise £2,000.
This money will be spent on ferry crossing, fuel, transportation costs and costs purely associated with making the vehicle roadworthy and able to drive and be used in Ukraine.

We will then load the ambulance full of aid supplies and drive it to the people of Ukraine.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!
WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN AMBULANCE BY THE INTERNATIONAL AID TRUST.
(all funding will go on fuel, ferry etc. as below).

All hotel fees, meals etc. associated with the trip will be paid from my own pocket.
If there is any leftover money, this will be put into our next aid visit or donated to the BAMK group if we are unable to make another visit.

As soon as we reach the fundraising target we will put the wheels in motion and get prepared for the trip, surprisingly it takes quite a bit of documentation to take aid to Ukraine, you have to do things right, otherwise you will be refused entry to Ukraine.

We would like to complete the trip during the spring/summer 2025.

Why an Ambulance?
Ambulances are in high demand due to the treacherous road conditions and associated damage caused.
