About the Project

In the Copper Canyons of northern Mexico, the Rarámuri people have sustained a running culture that predates modern sport by centuries. Running is deeply woven into daily life, spirituality, and community cohesion. It is a practice of movement across land, of endurance, and of shared responsibility rather than competition.

This GoFundMe campaign supports young Rarámuri runners connected to the Ultra Caballo Blanco 2026, an event that has become an important platform for cultural visibility while remaining rooted in local tradition.

Project Background

David (Nature Nomad World), together with the Run4Planetteam, is collaborating with the international nonprofit organization True Messages to support and highlight young Caballito runners and the cultural context they represent.

As part of this collaboration, True Messages is sponsoring a traditional Rarajipari event, providing a culturally grounded setting to engage with the community and create meaningful support beyond symbolic representation.

What the Funds Support

Contributions to this campaign directly support the organization and participation of young Rarámuri runners and related community activities, including:

  • race entry and participation fees
  • produced T-shirts and materials for runners and volunteers
  • organizational and logistical costs for events and coordination
  • transportation and basic infrastructure related to race participation
  • banners, communication materials, and outreach to increase visibility
  • volunteer coordination and on-site support
  • small giveaways and community-oriented items connected to the events

All funds are used to strengthen participation, visibility, and community engagement around the runners and the traditions they carry forward.

Why This Matters

Supporting young Rarámuri runners is not only about athletic participation. It is about recognizing and respecting a cultural practice that continues to exist under increasing economic, social, and environmental pressure.

This campaign aims to contribute in a practical and transparent way — supporting access, organization, and visibility while allowing the tradition itself to remain locally defined and led.
