Two Years Later: Rebuilding Hope for a Gaza Family

Hello to the compassionate souls of this world

‏I am Fawzia Shaaban Ali Al-Ghalayini from Gaza (land of wars) - Palestine. I am 18 years old.
Sister to Bilal Al-Ghalayini (the organizer of this online fundraiser)

All funds raised here will be sent to us through the Bank of Palestine.
At times, we are able to access these funds, though often with withdrawal fees as high as 50%. Despite these steep costs, we will still use whatever amount we receive to purchase food, water, and other necessities to survive.

Im a high school student who was deprived of education and the completion of my education because of the war on Gaza. I was supposed to finish this stage and move on to university, but unfortunately we do not have any rights even to education. There is no hope left.

‏I have a beautiful family that loves life, consisting of 8 members, as follows: I will start with my father, who is 64 years old. He works as a lawyer defending the oppressed. His office, his only source of livelihood for my family, was destroyed. His health condition has deteriorated. He suffers from a foot clot, is diabetic, and suffers from myelitis. And irregular blood pressure, and there is no treatment to take because Israel does not allow the entry of medications.

‏As for my mother, who is 52 years old, she suffers from chronic high blood pressure. She must take medication constantly, but unfortunately there is also no treatment, and she suffers from constant headaches.

‏As for my older brother, Abdullah, who is 32 years old, he is a lawyer who works with my father. He is married and has two children.

‏My brother Ali is 30 years old and works in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning. He is married and has two children

‏My brother Bilal, who is 27 years old, a university graduate majoring in business administration, he has not yet worked in his field. He worked survival jobs until the war broke out.

‏Likewise, my sisters Aya and Mufidah are married, and their financial and mental health is very bad. They have young children who were born during the war.

‏We lost our home, our source of livelihood, and everything we owned. Our house was destroyed in the year 2023. It is no longer habitable. We do not have shelters to embrace my family.

‏We are living the worst days of our lives. We have been displaced in a tent since our home was bombed. I cannot describe to you the feeling of living in a tent that animals do not accept to live in. We lived the four seasons of the year in a tent. We experienced the feeling of frost and lack of warmth, and the feeling of heat and the absence of an air source. While sleeping on polluted sand where there are all kinds of insects and ants, there is no water and no healthy food. The water is polluted. We have swallowed water in which worms live and food full of flies.

What comes to your mind when you read my family’s story?
Maybe you picture a family who has never known comfort, who has never slept on a soft bed or rested on a couch. After all, we're from Gaza: a place long burdened by hardship, even before the war.

But that wasn’t always our reality.
We once had a life. One filled with stability, dignity, and moments of joy. We had a home. We had social standing, and enough comfort to go out for family dinners, shop at the mall, or camp under the stars for a night or two.

I’m trying to say: we had a good life.
And then, it was taken from us.

I hope you’ll read our story with a humane heart.

We’ve never asked for help before. But life in Gaza turned upside down in an instant.
We once had everything - security, comfort, a home.
Now we have nothing. Not even shelter.

‏I don't want to prolong it any longer

Please help by donating what you can to my family or share our story to someone that can.

‏Thank you for your humanity.
