Help Our Pup!

Story

Maisy is a 5 year old long haired dachshund and the absolute LOVE of our lives. Like most dachshunds, she is stubborn and loves to do things her way- including jumping off of the couch or bed instead of using her provided stairs. Right now, Maisy is undergoing surgery for a herniated disk. She is unable to walk or stand by herself. Her back legs are very fragile and are unable to sustain any amount of weight on them at this time. We have been carrying her around and making sure she is comfortable, however she is eager to walk and even tries to but falls over while her back legs cross and curl under her. We took her to her veterinarian last week because her back seemed sensitive. She was only walking a few steps at a time before sitting down. Normally, she would run to the door to greet us, which was our first indication that something was wrong. Maisy was prescribed three different medications for pain and muscle relaxation to help her heal, but her back continued to get worse and her back legs were starting to become affected. From there, we took Maisy to a neurologist where she received a full physical exam, as well as blood work, anesthesia, and a CT scan and was then recommended for surgery. Dachshunds are notorious for having back problems, and as much as we tried to prevent it, Maisy's spine does need to be decompressed to help with her herniated disk. She will be undergoing surgery in the next day or so and as we know, it is painful and very expensive. While we know that times are rough for everyone right now, we hope that anyone who has had their life brightened by Maisy would be willing to contribute to our little pup. She is the light of our lives and we would do anything to make sure that she is safe, comfortable, and healthy. We appreciate you taking the time to read this and for your consideration to donate to Maisy's medical bills! Anything will help!
