Trevor's Heart
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Katrina. In mid October, my son began having fainting spells. This was concerning because when he was born, he had to have an open heart surgery to fix a piece of a pulmonary artery that had not fully developed. He is now 17. We took him to the ER and found out that the piece that was replaced 16 years ago had become too small for his heart to function correctly. October 13th, Trevor had another surgery in Portland to place a larger conduit that should carry him through the next estimated 10 to 15 years.
My husband and I are fortunate enough to have jobs that allow us to take the time off work, however, it is unpaid since the care is for a family member.
Trevor is healing, but slowly. We are now learning that his sleep apnea may keep us away from home for up to 4 more weeks.
My husband will return home to go back to work soon, but there are medical bills and the loss of income for almost 2 months.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Update:
Trevor is home now. He is recovering well! There are still some challenges, but we are working through them as they come. Trevor still needs help with some everyday tasks. Trevor has a couple of appointments coming up and as long as we get the all clear from those, then things can start to get back to normal again!
We really appreciate all of the help we have received so far!
