In the current economic climate, it takes more time and resources for independent artists to develop and bring new work to the public. Funding shortages meant that the creative process for this project happened in starts and stops without the time needed to fully embody the work.

Now, after three years, "again again" is ready to be shared with audiences in Toronto.

We were lucky enough to have support from private and public funders for most of our creation phase but mounting a full scale production requires several rounds of applications to funders. And with rates of success so low, it's no surprise that we've had only limited success. Working with a team of 15 artists and rising production costs, we find ourselves in a shortfall as we head into the studio to complete the work and premiere it in the new year.

That's where you come in.

again again is a full-length, ensemble dance work for an intergenerational cast of 8 performers which premieres as A DanceWorks CoWorks Series Event March 10-13, 2027.
again again explores ideas around trust – how it’s developed, how it breaks and how it’s rebuilt. The work centres on community and how its established and tested over time.

By supporting this project, you are not only helping one dance reach the stage—you are investing in artists, collaborators, and audiences that make this project and our local arts community possible.
