Total loss due to Hurricane Ian
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tina, and I need to share with you the story of my parents. My parents lived (and I use the past tense because their home is no longer habitable) in Ft. Myers, Florida. On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian ripped through Fort Myers, destroying their home, everything in it and their car.
They watched from a neighbor's home as a wall of water grew higher and higher but were powerless to prevent the surge from swallowing the house. Their home and car were submerged under 8ft. of water for over 24 hours. On Friday, they returned home to complete devastation. The house was still standing, but the water destroyed everything.
Mom and dad found out this week that the insurance company will not cover the damage to the home - their most significant asset. They have to replace everything out of pocket. They are looking into getting some legal assistance. This development leads me here - with this direct appeal for financial help.
My parents are 76 and 78 years old. My mom was a nurse, and my dad had a small painting business. They both worked hard in their adult life to ensure they could retire in a warm environment away from the snow and ice of New England. They saved and relocated from Massachusetts to Fort Myers. They love their home and would like to remain in this house. It’s a very special place to them.
As you can see by the photos, they need to replace all the drywall, appliances and everything in between, from spoons to sheets.
We need your help. I am asking you to help by contributing money toward the rebuild. Any amount that you can give would be tremendously helpful.
